How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

As long as you have room at the back it is quiet, otherwise you have to keep the windows shut because of the noise from the main road

1. Wifi only available at a particular location not in rooms. 2. No lifts so it’s difficult if you have heavy luggage.

Our room was located at the back of the building, overseeing a school courtyard, so it was a little noisy early in the morning on weekdays. There was no mini fridge in the room, we could have used it for our water and refreshments as the weather was quite hot.
Perfect location right next to two metro stations. The friedrichshain area is full of beautiful caffes, bars and restaurants, so you have plenty to choose from at a close distance.

The room was clean and the location was excellent (close to the metro; 4 or 5 stations to Alexanderplatz). The staff were very helpful and always with a smile.

Nothing really. The furniture may be a bit outdated style, but don’t let the images mislead, it was super comfortable.
Great location, quite street. Easy to access metro line or walk to the bar area. Nice beds and shower, and spacious room, all you need! Also very friendly staff to help with the checkin.

No lift, so it would be hard if allocated a room on the 5th floor. Breakfast was okay but not fantastic for the price.
Old style hotel with no elevator, luckily we were on 2nd floor and lovely lady at reception helped us with our luggage. Luggage storage for before and after check-in and out. We had a really big room with new bathroom. Very clean and comfortable. Easy access to public transport. Plenty of food options close by.

Would have liked Tea and Coffee making facilities in the bedroom but that's probably a British thing.
The receptionist was courteous and efficient. The room was a good size and very clean, light and airy with large comfortable twin beds and the en-suite equally so. This was great value for money hotel in a good location and it exceeded our expectations.

No kettle in room.
Very clean and comfortable room. Great location, close to U Bahn station. Very quiet at night. We were moved to a bigger room, we had booked a twin room and on arrival the room was double.

The hotel was very basic, it was somewhere to sleep and leave, not a lobby to relax in. Felt more like a posh hostel. The price was high for this, but I think there was an event in Berlin when I was there, it seems to be good value at other times. I couldn't find any nice cafes in the area, and I walked around for almost an hour!
Hotel Kiez was very clean, and the staff were AMAZING! The lady who checked me in was super-efficient, and very nice and friendly. I forgot to bring a plug adapter, and she very kindly loaned me an adaptor for my phone cable. Location of the hotel was ok.... the area was safe, and I found a beautiful Italian cafe 5 mins walk where I had dinner. However, I couldn't see any nice cafes for an after dinner coffee, or the following morning for a coffee or breakfast. The hotel was 15-20 mins walk from the subway station, I was coming from the airport and google maps was my "guide".

The internet connection is very bad and you can't connect to WIFI a lot of the time
The location is outstanding. It's not around the classics but there is a very convenient transport system nearby. The staff was also very friendly and helpful.

The doors are not sound proof, they could have at least reduced the noise. You could hear everything going on outside in the hallway.

U-Bahn/subway station nearby. Kinda off the beaten path but not really. So quiet but could easily reach louder parts :) Staff was easy going and friendly.

Excellent location with a lot of bars, clubs and restaurants in walking distance, while still being a great connection for longer distance travel. Room was small but clean and practical with an excellent new shower mechanism and a comfy bed. Some of the nicest and friendliest staff I've ever encountered in Berlin.

Receptionist not friendly & had very poor English but she was efficient & got the job done . A smile would be nice & to learn how to welcome guests to the hotel doesn’t seem like a big ask!
