How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Matrass was too soft for me and the bed too small.
Friendlyness, hygiëne, communication. The owner quickly reacts to questions. There is an underground parking garage closeby for €10/d. Heating works great. Kitchen is well equipped. We had a great stay.

Wifi signal is weak in the living room.
Great location. Very close to supermarkets and shops. The owner of the apartment is quite helpful and nice. We had some problems with the heating system but the owner could solve it quickly. Highly recommended!

3rd floor with no lift. Also it was hit when we were there and there was only 1 fan.
Great location. Lots of space in the apartment and a good kitchen set up. Beds were also very comfortable.

The bathroom was a bit outdated and would have been great if shower gel was provided.
The apartment was very spacious and clean. Though we only talked to the host via Whatsapp, interections were friendly and checking in and out was simple and easy. The location was great, in a very quiet area, but just a 10 min walk to the city centre.

very nice host. Rainier was very friendly and helped us with a map with some nice places to visit in Köln. the apartment has all necessities and was clean. Good beds too! And ofcourse, a great location

Nothing to criticise at all
Perfect central location - able to walk to all the attractions and shops and great range of local restaurants This accommodation is so easy to walk to from the Central railway station which itself has a train straight to the Koln-Bonn airport We had a wonderful 3 days enjoying Köln with plenty to do for 2 adults and 2 teenaged children. There are so many lovely shops and local attractions.

The outside door and entry hallway ito the door were super dark at night which made me feel unsettled despite it seeming like a safe neighbourhood. We had to pull out our phones to see the keyhole. There doesn't seem to be any soundproofing. We heard people loudly coming in around 1am every night. And there was an actual party above us one night, though it did end between 10 and 11 when they all left so they could return at 1am. I know that strange choices have to be made some time, but 1/3 of the shower area in the tub is taken up by a gas fuelled on demand water heater. I was concerned stray splash might put out the flame.
We liked that it is outside of the down downtown area where things are a little quieter and less touristed we loved that it is near 2 great museums for students of archeology and anthropology. We appreciated how easy it was to get checked in. We were grateful for the bathtub so my daughter could take a bath to clear our a cold.

Fabulous location. Very close to public transport, walking distance to the major tourist attractions and shopping. The place was clean and comfortable and tge owner reacted to requests very quickly.

I can't think of anything.
Relatively central, short walking distance to the shopping district and central train station. Communication with the host was simple and quick The place was clean. Good value for the price.

This apartment has an excellent location, minutes away from the center and metro stops but in a quiet street. It is simple but well equipped and the layout is great. Rainer met me and offered to help with my luggage. The . I bathroom is a little small but that is ok and the price is right as the place can house 4-5 people. I would recommend it and come again! :)

The apartment is super noisy due to something on the opposite side of the street (power substation, air conditioners or whatever): the kitchen and one of the rooms face this side of the street, so it's very annoying. Also, be prepared that the apartment will be half empty: we didn't even have soap to wash our hands when we arrived. There is not even salt (although there is a kitchen), not to mention other things you expect and do not take from home on a trip.
Good location, main attractions within walking distance, large underground parking next to the house.
