My room smelled.of smoke and the bathroom was mildewed everywhere! It was clean, don't get me wrong, but mildew is nasty!

Breakfast was not as good as the last time we were there (no bretzls, few breads, the coffee machines didn't work in the breakfast room, but there was another one in the lobby), but it was still good (they had a lot of sausages this time, I thought that was very good).

As I mentioned before, if you are unlucky during the summer, you might get a very hot room. I think it is because the radiator in the bathroom was still on even though it was summer. It was not hot but just slightly warm, which means the heat still builds up in the room. Aside from that, my new room was not perfect. The toilet flush sometimes got stuck, causing the water to keep flowing. And the shower stand in the bath tub was broken was it could not hold the shower head. The hotel is not perfect and there is quite some wear and tear throughout the hotel. You have to be specific with your request for the room or get lucky with what they give you.

When I first checked in, it was 26 Celsius outside. The room was very hot without air conditioning. I thought that is still alright, I'll just open the window at night to sleep. But the window was facing the main road, which was very noisy at night. The next morning, I complained about this to the reception because I was unable to sleep. They amicably tried their best to find a replacement room for me. I had to wait a while because all rooms were full but they said to wait until around 1pm after people check out and the rooms are cleaned. In the end, they managed to find a room for me that has air conditioning and the window is facing inwards, not the road. That room was very comfortably. The staff were accommodating to my request and the room was comfortable. The location is also excellent. Right beside the river that is the border to the town centre where all the good food and shopping are. There is a bus stop right outside it to go to the train station that is 25 minutes walk away, 6 minutes by bus.

Renovations are still happening across the hotel; e.g. Fitness facilities not being open, just as an FYI. But that didn't impact us.

Bfast was great. Enough options and tasty food. Staff has been very friendly and accommodating to any extra requests.

there is a definite drop in standards from last year. It is shabbier and needs maintenance. the electronic door keys failed on three occasions over the weekend I was there. Not just me, but other guests as well. The receptionist had to leave the desk and come with his tool kit to fix them. I felt sorry for him as he had to leave new arrivals at the desk and the phone ringing to sort us out. no kettle in room which is a disappointment for a four star hotel. the air conditioning in my room 141 didn't work but I didn't really mind too much.

incredible location- this is the best thing going for the hotel and the reason we stayed there last year and this year . excellent breakfast- variety, helpful staff and lovely view of river. very comfortable bed!

No gym or sauna available during my stay ( I wasn’t I formed about that prior booking ) No Coffe machine or fridge in the room ( coffee machine accessible at the reception . Staff , although friendly , not all speaking English.

Could not make the shower work in the bath. The bath was extremely dangerous as it was very high and a glass shower door. My husband fell in the bath and there were no grab bars

To be honest I was really scared after reading other people's reviews. Yes, sure the decoration and furniture need updating, but what would one expect at such cheap price? The location was the best, just 300 meters from the centre, our room had a big balcony with views overlooking the river. The beds and mattresses were very comfortable.
