A comfortable and interesting place to stay, but don't expect it to be modern!

Very small basic room, a bit dated and well-worn. Tiny shower cubicle. Squeaky bathroom sliding door drove me nuts!

Interesting property with a small museum and plenty of character; friendly welcome; peaceful location

Small but nice room in a quirky place. Very clean too. I enjoyed my stay there. It would be a lovely place to stay during summer. Breakfast was very nice. Hosts do not speak much English, but still made me feel welcome. Location is ok. The walk down to town is not too long.

We booked this hotel because it had a restaurant and bar, but sadly they were closed, and we were not told this on booking it was only open weekend's, but people were drinking and eating outside, So had to walk 25 minutes to colditz town, and it is all up hill on the way back. We were told breakfast was at 8am, this is not true as people had, had there breakfast and left, we had the scraps that was left, not even worth going to eat, we didn't bother with breakfast the next day and ate on the road.

The hotel and room were very clean and tidy, and smelled nice.

The shower floor seemed a bit soggy, small towels in room. Not much info on prices in bar.

Nice breakfast , excellent motor cycle parking great location for visiting the castle. The host made us dinner when we arrived which was really tasty. The restaurant serves great food. Nice quirky guest house complete with lots of exciting things to look at. Great bar too

Interesting, quirky pension with its own museum, memorabilia and fish tank. Friendly owners who supplied us with bonus ice cream in the evening. Great rural location but within walking distance of town and castle

A number of dogs were in the beer garden (with their owners) but there was a lot of barking throughout dinner which rather spoiled the atmosphere.

Convenient for Colditz. Reasonable price. Quirky building. Language was a slight problem as we had very little Germany and she had little English but we managed. Breakfast was average with fried eggs plus continental. Plus a small but interesting museum

1 night stop. The room, facilities and breakfast were great, and for us, the location was just right. Simone was the perfect host and looked after us well. The Little DDR museum on site is interesting, and the people we met were a great source of info for me regarding the times before the "Wende". All in all a great stay.

Poor hotel and expensive, absolutely not worth the money!

No one at the property could speak English, which was not clear when I booked. There is no reception and you had to shout for someone to come. The hotel on entering smelled of old cigarettes and was generally in a low-maintenance state. The car park was not secure or gated. My room on the top floor was accessible by a set of stairs and a lift. There was a kitchenette directly outside my room door which appeared to be for guests (see picture), however, when I opened the microwave to heat something an angry old man came rushing out shouting in German and promptly closed it, I left to my room and locked the door, the old man spent the next 5-10 minutes hammering on my door! (clearly, long-term residents also live there). The breakfast was out, but no one was there, consisting of a couple of slices of cheese and ham and sliced tomato (there were 2 lots of cereals but no milk I could see and no bread etc) with a coffee flask with only warm coffee in it and a very small jug of milk (enough to add to the warm coffee making it cold). I would rate this hotel at less than 1 star, it was a grotty room (dead flies on window etc), poor service and certainly not worth one-fifth of the money I paid for it. I definitely DO NOT recommend it.

The location was ok, but it was quite a walk up and down steep hills to the town.
