Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

LuxembourgNo elevator, so if you carry heavy luggage, the staff will not help you carry it up the stairs. There was a smell in the room (alcohol/cleaning agent). Although they have refurbished the hotel and it looks great on the pictures, there is still a feeling of a train station hotel.
Not far away from train station, but the area was ok. Price ok. Hotel ok for a one-night stay.

United KingdomThe room felt a little dingy, probably down to the position.
Location excellent. The buffet breakfast was great with lots of choice, tasty food on offer. Whilst there are no tea/coffee making facilities in the room, there is access to a machine in the hotel reception area 24 hours daily. The room was clean, the bathroom was excellent and the bed super comfortable, providing a good night's sleep.

United StatesFrom what we could see there was no accessibility accommodations so you'll need to be prepared to walk up stairs to get to your room (unsure if there are any main floor rooms). The bath towels were a little thin but otherwise serviceable.
The room was comfortable with a decent bed and good shower. The breakfast, even though not included in the room price we paid, is outstanding - the best of any place we stayed on our 3 week trip. While not directly in the main part of the city, it is very close and we were able to easily walk everywhere we wanted to go sightsee.

United KingdomTrier is not very big, so nothing is going to be very far away, but it was convenient for the train station and getting to the middle of the town. The room was comfortable and the shower good. Breakfast had a great range of cheeses, meats, fruit and breads, and was very good. Staff were very friendly and welcoming.

United StatesIt could have been closer to the pedestrian zone downtown! - but it was still within walking distance of downtown in one direction, and the train station in the other direction, so I never had to take a cab. I only had one small bag. Travelers with heavier luggage would need to take a cab there from the train station. The upper floors (where all the guest rooms are) are reachable only by stairs, which wasn‘t a problem for me, but could be a problem for others.
Breakfast was very good, a traditional German hotel breakfast. There were many choices of everything at the buffet. The bread rolls (Brötchen) were fresh. A plate of cold cuts and a plate of cheeses were brought to each table as guests arrived, as well as a pot of coffee. I love the old German hotel tradition of assigning each guest a specific table during their stay, as they did. The staff was very helpful, allowing me to check in early on arrival and keeping my bag for me after checkout so I could run some unencumbered errands before my train arrived at noon. The hotel is old but comfortably modernized and perfectly clean.

GermanyNO LIFT!!! Had to carry our heavy suitcases up two levels. Aircon is pretty noisy and has no whisper mode. Parking is tricky with very little room to maneuver which is being made worse by charging 6 Euros for it... Oh, and the rooms look nothing like on the pictures in the brochure, it rather basic and the bathroom is very small... There is also no fridge in the room.
Breakfast was good (typical German/Continental), but could do with better labeling so you know what you are picking. Location was good (within walking distance of Porta Nigra). Quick free WiFi.

DenmarkWe (a Danish family of four travelling Germany and France by train) found the city of Trier to be an awful experience: run-down, chaotic, and dominated by ugly plastic facades and a total lack of city-planning (in spite of the few carefully renovated town houses), including the area around the lone and tired Porta Nigra, crammed in between ugly brand stores, burger joints etc.), and including the lack of access to the river, where heavy traffic dominates. Add poor food, and a general sense of desillusion and lack of aesthetic ambition (as opposed to the town of Heidelberg, for example). Likewise, we found the hotel to be dark and uninspired, placed in a somewhat neglected neighbourhood. Breakfast was equally dull, with everything wrapped in cellophane, and a very poor coffee on top. We left Trier after one night (having booked, and thus having to pay for, two) and went to our next stop in Metz, France a day earlier than planned. What a change!
Fairly close to the main station.

United Kingdomthere was no one on reception and the restaurant was closed It only opened for breakfast and that was from 8 am which was too late for us- the rates of the room was a hotel price- this was only a pension and it was really disappointing- Also they could not print our bill off ... all in all a bit of a shambles of a place.. also when we came to leave having dropped our keys and let our selves out so we were out on the street we discovered the garage had been closed and locked so we could not get into our car!
the room and the location both excellent , and there was parking but see below as there was a problem with it !
