How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

It was almost sitting on the main gate, clean and cozy. The hotel is good for what it is and serves its purpose.

I loved how close it was to base. Right across from front gate. Owners were great and the restaurant is open on my most days. I had a refrigerator too! Also, loved the coffee in the morning.

There are only a few parking places outside the hotel but it's easy to park in the street as there are very wide side strips that are used for parking. No hardship at all and the traffic is light.
Self check in was easy. There were quite a few steps down to the breakfast room and up to our room from the front door. Breakfast was enjoyable. The lady in charge spoke enough English to be able to cope with our lack of German. There is a supermarket close by that you can walk to and buy an evening meal. A pleasant surprise was a microwave on the landing near our room.

Nothing. Everything was perfect!!
The room was big and clean! Check-in was easy and quick. The bed was comfortable and I slept well! The shower was bignwith plenty of hot water! The breakfast was yummy, and I'm pretty sure I had the best cup of cappuccino with my meal! I wish I would have made it back to my room in time to order from the restaurant. The menu looked delicious! The hotel is within walking distance of stores and the military gate. Parking was free on the property.

There was nothing we did not like.
The place was in a perfect location, the room was perfect it was clean it was big it was comfortable. The facility itself was excellent. They have a restaurant at the facility and the food is very good. One of their employees her name is Angela she was absolutely wonderful, Smilingly helpful, I wanted to thank her in person before we left but I couldn't find her. I hope she gets the information that I am letting everyone know that she is a wonderful rep for the hotel.

This was my second stay at the Hotel-Restaurant Zum Stern. Great communication! prior to arrival we received a message with a code to the key safe for our room key for after hours. Room was immaculate. We also received a registration form and selection form for breakfast. filled out both and just dropped it int the hotel mailbox. Beds were very comfortable and room was quiet. Next morning our breakfast was ready for us at the restaurant below. Staff was very nice and attentive. We didn’t eat dinner here this time but we did before many times, when we lived in the area, and have never been disappointment by quality of food or service. There was an issue with our pre-payment. For some reason the hotel didn’t receive the payment from booking.com even though we had already been charged. we had to pay for the room at the site again but this was not the hotels fault but an error from booking.com. the owner reassured us that this issue will be resolved and we will get either payment refunded. She confirmed via booking.com messages that she sent in a refund request and to contact her if needed.

The beds could be better, instead of two small ones together one bigger bed would be better.

Direct contact to get information for a reservation was difficult but through Booking.com, booking a room was not a problem.

Dinner was not organized. Was offered the option to have dinner at the bar when there were plenty of tables available.
