United Kingdom8 reviews“Excellent stay, definitely recommend!”Some noise at night but you are right in the middle of the busy old town area so it’s to be expected, it didn’t affect our stay, we wanted to stay in this area for ease of walking to the city’s main attractions, whilst enjoying the great views of the river.
The hotel is in an excellent location in the old part of town, easy walk from the cathedral/train station & lovely views of the river. Staff were all excellent, friendly & easy to communicate with, great language skills. Room was lovely & clean and we were able to leave our bags at reception before check in to make the most of our trip.

I had to remove a dirty wet towel on arrival. it needed a good deep clean round plug holes and the shower tray edge, bit dusty in areas too! having to pay an extra fee on arrival to cover the rise in energy rates wasn’t ideal although it wasn’t much, it shouldn’t have been something we were faced with on arrival without warning. The cleaner also let himself in our room without knocking, whilst we were getting ready for check out (before check out time).
location perfect, exactly where we wanted to be. we had a side view of the river. The bed was very comfortable and the staff were a great help and fantastic English. free coffee too!

But marketing the room without”We booked the room with a river view, but when we checked in, it was a room with a side view of the river and a view looking directly at a building at the back street. We were told they were the same kind of room which was nonsense and if we wanted we could change it one day later, which was a lot of work for us to pack and unpack again with the kids, so we gave up and stayed there with a disappointment.
The hotel was clean and its location was very good.

Despite alternating the temperature it didn’t make any difference and the landing was warmer. Being a single room it was very small and there was no chair to sit on. The bed was comfortable to sleep but not sit. Having health issues I spend quite a bit of time in my room so that was important to me. I’m sure it would be fine for an active traveller. Also if you have mobility issues you need to say so as stairs can be involved regardless of the lift. I ended up amending my flight and leaving a day early. No one asked me why and this suggested a lack of interest in guests’ well-being to me.
The hotel was very clean and in an excellent location. The receptionist when I arrived was fantastic. Very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was a good continental with a wide range of options. There were hot options but I didn’t see that until the second day. They were tucked away on a board. I was unsure if they cost extra.

The staff was amazing and helped give great recommendations for food and activities. The location was perfect to walk to all of the Christmas markets in Cologne.
