How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

I have no complaints. It is not super modern with all of the comforts of luxury hotels, but it has charm.
The location was excellent. It was a ten-minute walk straight down the street to the hotel, which is sitting right next to the Porta Nigra (one of the most important sites in Trier). It is also at the beginning of the pedestrian zone. Perfect for someone arriving by train, but they also have free parking if you come by car. The breakfast was also excellent with lots of options, and there is no problem getting gluten-free options. The staff was extremely helpful and pleasant. Great value.

The room was a bit small but very quiet and the bed creaked but was OK. Would have booked a superior room if there had been any available as the beds are better for our backs.
Good breakfast, staff very pleasant, excellent location. Particularly liked the provision of free water & soft drinks 24hr and parking for guests. Nice to see the hotel recovering after Covid.

Great location. Free parking nearby. Free soft drinks anytime. Great shower, heated floor in the bathroom. So close to everything. Parking was free and in a small lot not too far away.

The room was not updated, it’s quite traditional and old looking.
The hotel is nice, we were offered free beverages upon arrival, there is free parking, and it’s close to the city center. We only stayed for one night to see the Christmas market, and we had a nice stay.

The room was just a little old and different from the one we selected (there wasn't the dining table for 2 at the window as seen in the booking picture). The bed and the pillows were not very comfortable.
The staff was friendly. The location was perfect and the breakfast was really good as well. We loved the free beverage service. Pet friendly hotel :)

Small inconvenience - parking is about 150 m from the hotel
Very good location 3 minutes walk from old town and 10 minutes from Train station. Room with balcony. You can take mineral water and soft drinks from a dispenser in restaurant, as much as you like. Night receptionist was very helpful

I missed the lovely dark brown rolls with pumpkins seeds at breakfast.

Location is adjacent to Porto Negro and pedestrian zone and is an easy walk from the train station. I requested a room change because I did not like the view and received a room that viewed the Porto Negro.

We were there for 4 days, so a fridge in the room would have been very welcome. There was no ice either, so we could not cool our drinks.
The hotel is very central for everything. The staff were very responsive and efficient and the breakfast was excellent. You can have free water and coffee all day. Parking was easy and the room we had on the 4th floor was quiet.

Nice old hotel. Great location. Parking. Friendly staff. An additional star for free cold drinks - we stayed there when it was +30, so the offer was very appreciated.

No complains, but would appreciate if there was a fridge in the room for cooling down our soda etc.
Next to the Black Port (Romans) at the beginning of the walking street. Parking was close by and free.

Really uncomfortable bed. I checked beforehand about parking, and was told I could drop off my luggage outside before I drive to the carpark. The receptionist wouldn't let me, even though it was 33° and if just driven all day. She did get me a glass of water. She was not welcoming though When I checked out, there was nobody on reception. There was a boy outside smoking, he watched me walk to the carpark with all my luggage. When I got there, I had to wait for a local worker to let me in, as "couldn't be bothered" smoker didn't answer the bell to open the carpark. Lovely location, but both reception staff seem to dislike guests. There are so many more options in Trier.
