How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The pool didn't work at the time of our stay.
Very nice historical building. The rooms are clean and it's right in the middle of town. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast had a good selection.

I would have to say that for seniors or people with disabilities it was a difficult hotel to navigate. Many steps to climb and absolutely no help with taking the bags up and down these stairs both upon arrival and departure.
Very nice atmosphere. Walkable location. Food was good. Many antiques and very charming.

My room was kinda difficult to find. Hotels like this are usually built across different building and there is sometime to go up then down then up again… I reached the hotel when the reception was already closed and with all my luggage was a bit annoying to go in circle for 15 minutes to find the room
Nice old style location. The room was kinda small and a bit “old fashion” do not expect any luxury. I had a small tv and that’s it. But I guess it goes in the style of the hotel.

The only night we stayed the staff refused to serve us dinner at 9PM. Room was very far from reception with some stairs in the middle.
Big room with furniture and style of the 1900s. Breakfast. Located in the very center.

The room we had was not very comfortable. It took an age to find and the stone floors and the darkness of the room meant I did not feel comfortable there.
The hotel is right in the centre of town - on the main square. The hotel itself is an historical building and walking through it was very nice. The breakfast was very nice.

Very Dog friendly. Absolutely no problem and the owners, themselves the owners of a big dog, were very easy going.

The hotel is located right in the town center, in a monumental building. Easy to access. Parking posaibilities = on the street, next to the hotel. Very friendly staff. Hotel interior fits the age of the building and the facilities are comfortable. We had a good time.

Was told on arrival that the hotel has new owners and is in a period of transition. Only hotel elevator was out of order, which made staying on upper floors more difficult. Restaurant was closed for meals, only breakfast was served. Bar services were closed, with only a minibar/fridge located on each floor stocked only with beer and soft drinks/water at a price. Regrettably, we were not advised of the lack of services before we arrived. We have stayed at this hotel several times in previous years and this is the first time we were disappointed.
Breakfast was very good. Staff were professional and polite. Swimming pool was great, although the spa jets were not working.

The pool was a bit cold, but I understand that some people who swim for sport like it cold to get cooled down during the workout or some people like it better who come from sauna to go into a colder pool.
The restaurant- haven’t had food that good in a long time!!! Make sure you eat at the restaurant, everything is good! The interior and building is amazingly well cared for despite being such an old building- you can tell they regularly maintain the rooms/walls/bathrooms/etc. and have a good eye for what needs to be cleaned! The staff was always very attentive and caring about our needs. Also the interior is just lovely and has such nice detail/character- you can see the love they put into this place.
