How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The double bed was made of two separate mattresses joint together. Not very comfortable. The reception was not always presided. The restaurant was not open for lunch.
I was here some years ago. The good impression I had then, has been confirmed. The staff is very helpful and friendly. As I was quite late on my arrival, I got a phone call and was explained how to get to my room key etc. Breakfast was very rich. There is a bell that rings four times per hour. At first I was a bit disturbed by that, but I got accustomed quite easily and somehow it gave a flavor of town life which I quite liked. The stay was altogether very satisfactory. There were not too many guests, so the house was very quiet. I'm looking forward to the next time I'll be there.

Impersonal staff, pleasant but not especially friendly it felt like just going through the motions. Wifi not good (I think the thick walls and medieval build probably doesn't help?) Car parking problematic during the day (tourists, lunch), but in the evening, it free's up.
It is a classic German hotel. Clean, perfectly functional but unremarkable (boring) despite being in a centuries old castle/fortress. The modernisation of the rooms, corridors etc stripped the inside of any character. B-fast was good, plenty of choice, everything you'd expect. I would recommend a meal at the Schloss lakeside restaurant, excellent local beer and specialty dishes (I took sauerbraten and Knoedle). OK for business travelers and short stays (I was traveling for business 1 night).

Unfortunately, the hotel restaurant was closed, so we could only eat pizza from the only other restaurant open in the village. As well, the shower drain was blocked, so we flooded the floor accidentally. The bathroom was beautifully renovated, so this was most unexpected. There is not much to see in the village, but suitable for a break if it is on your route.
Nicely renovated castle hotel in a small village with free parking. Friendly reception.

no fridge or tea coffee making facilities in room, restaurant and beer garden were not open due to construction leaving limited options in the area. The construction should be mentioned on website.

Scaffolding in the courtyard and outside our window which took a lot of the nice view. Also for safety it wasn't nice to have scaffolding outside your room. Maybe the hotel shouldn't rent out these rooms as long as the renovation takes place.
Clean room. Nice location in the middle of the village/town. Good restaurent by the lake for dinner

We booked the larger room but even then the room was small (provide option to have a family room?)
The staff was very friendly, welcoming and helpful. The breakfast buffet was vast in variety. The room was ready upon arrival, and the hotel provided a cot for our baby. It was clean and had a spacious bathroom with an easily accessible shower.

We arrived after 6pm so had to get our keys from a safe. Not a big problem but it doesn't feel very welcome because everything was completely deserted and we didn't see anyone. Rooms were completely covered in a layer dust which felt very unhygienic. It didn't feel like it was cleaned before our stay. Also the restaurant where the breakfast was served was dirty with crumbles and dirt on the carpet. Rooms are big but also modern, don't expect any authentic castle interiors.
The schloss is a great location with alot of potential.
