How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

What was missing: There was a kettle in the reception area but no coffee, no tea and no body to ask for something hot. I wish we could have some tea after a cold and long day.

We could have stayed longer.
Certainly the location is spectacular! Our windows looked straight onto the canals and under a beautiful bridge. The room was perfectly clean and the shower was fabulous (not always easy in these old houses). The staff were very helpful and efficient. Breakfast, served in a quaint room over looking the canal, was delicious. We were completely entranced by this special hotel.

Our room (room 5) faced the main street that was quite nosiy until late evening. Hotel is located near a restaurant. Ventilation of the restaurant caused a strong smell of food in the room.

Limited check-in time is harder when traffic is unpredictable. Having to book breakfast time the night before. Wi-Fi unstable.
Excellent view. Great ambiance, modern spacy room in beautiful house. Great breakfast. Beautiful part of town. Parking nearby.

All good
The breakfast was very nice. My room was very charming. It was modern but still kept the half-timbered house style. My view included the river and the dom. It was very idyllic.and the WiFi was strong.

Beautiful hotel in great location. Perfect combination of modern accommodation and historic background. Great variety breakfast and very friendly and welcoming staff. We will be back.

An elevator would be helpful, but I am thinking because of the historical nature of the house, that's not going to happen
Breakfast was great. Getting up to our room, on the top floor was a challenge - some of the staff were very forthcoming with their offer to help with our luggage

We had no idea at check in that the apartment would be on the 4th floor of a separate building with no lift and steep, if modern and well-lit, stairs. The front desk person claimed that this was all explained on Booking, but all I see is a notation that the upper floor of the apartment is up a circular stair—I see nothing in the English language description that warns that that upper floor is starting out in a 4th floor walk-up. Anyone with physical limitations, visual disabilities, traveling with small kids or lots of luggage should be forewarned explicitly. There’s also no AC, which we expected, though a fan would be helpful. And the low ceiling beams, though charming, would be a challenge for anyone over 6 feet.
This turned out to be an entire 2 bedroom apartment, in a modernized building about a block from the hotel. Full modern kitchen, 1.5 very nice baths, a little balcony on the top floor. Had we been staying a week or even a month, rather than a single night, this would have been a very good choice, right smack in the Alstadt of Ulm, overlooking the crookedest house on the Blau. And Ulm is lovely and lively.

No sound proof at all, impossible to sleep after 06:30 (but this is old building). Internet wasn't working, there are no people from 18:00 till morning i.e. none to ask.

Parking next to the hotel is difficult, there is a large car park nearby but not so convenient for acces to the hotel and rooms
The hotel is very well located, next to various restaurants and walks along the Danube. Freindly staff and helpful.

Very poor breakfast, with no possibility of taking it to the room. Extending the stay by one hour turned out to be a problem. Dirty floor and a lot of dust. The water wasn’t always hot.

They advertise apartment on their website and pictures show a living area separate dining area and a mezzanine bedroom area what we get was a converted shop with the front room literately not usable since there is a bistro with outside seating in front of your door and the bedroom was tiny with hardly enough space to walk around bed. Raised issue with staff right after check in the could not do anything and in the morning the manager/ proprietor was equally unhelpful we cut down our 8 night stay and checked out had to pay £129 euros for the pleasure of staying the previous night. At no Point did they apologise or offer to help with alternative accommodation to top it all off they advertised the released apartment again on booking.com with the wrong pictures. Only good thing was we found a brilliant alternative for less then £100 a night
