Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BelgiumIf you need to go to the toilet, you need to go to the main building. For us, it was a 2 minutes walk. Also, the rooms have thin walls so you can hear everything that’s going on outside. The curtains are thin as well so you wake up because of the sunlight in the morning. We saw some mice under the containers (rooms) but not inside. There is no airconditioning in the room so it can get hot. There’s not a lot of space in the container. So it’s just for sleeping. There is no tap or water in the room. So you need to brush your teeth, wash your hands… in the main building. They don’t clean the room or give you new sheets during your stay. Only before and after. Metro to the city center is a 10minute walk. There is no 24 hours reception.
You get your own container (room) with your own key so you get a lot of privacy. It’s also cosy. The lodges are close to Tempelhof field which is a very nice park. It’s also located next to a public swimming pool so that can be refreshing. The area was also very quite and a little bit cheaper than the big city center. The showers were good!

NetherlandsThe room was too warm constantly, and there was no AC to counteract it. It was also very hard to ventilate the room so that the warm air would go out.
I liked the option to store your luggage at the reception before check-in and /or after check-out. It really improved our visit.

United KingdomThe communal kitchen could’ve stayed open later at night so we could fill up our water bottles from the kitchen sink as opposed to in the bathroom! In the bathrooms, there is 2 proper shower cubicles with lockable doors, then a row of showers with curtains. If you’re shy, like me and my partner, then I would recommend not using the showers with curtains because people will walk in on you!
Less than a 10 minute walk from the metro station, or there’s e-scooters/ e-bikes located just up the road! Our lodge was small but comfy for a 2 night stay. The front gate onto the property made us feel very secure. Highly recommend ‘Mmaah’ - a Korean takeaway - next to the accommodation!

United KingdomAt times there was no hand soap, hand towels or toilet roll in the shared bathroom. There was also a general smell in the shared bathroom that I believe was coming from the drains - it wasn't too bad but wasn't nice.
The location was really good for getting to other areas of the city, easy access by train and lots of shops nearby. The environment of the hostel was nice and felt like a completely different place to the city. Very green and cozy. The shared kitchen/seating area was well kempt and had good facilities.

JapanIf they have a few more bathrooms (there are only two for women in the whole premise), it would be better. Also, there is a rule of a kitchen to be closed 8pm and only opens at 9 am. If they can open at 8 am, I could have had a coffee, but I needed to leave at 8 am.
It was a tiny house setting and they organized it very nicely. I felt really comfortable in a cabin although there were ants in the room. The staff is nice as well.

PolandThe fact that you have to walk outside to get to the bathroom and kitchen. You don't get a free towel or single use slippers.
It's a nice place if you stay with a group of friends - you get a whole small house (or should I call it a room) for yourself. Otherwise it's really tiny. For some people the room may seem too cold. The bathroom is fine for the price. The kitchen is great, you get some place to sit and eat, they have a coffee machine, spoons, cups. Tea is for free, you have to pay for coffee.
