How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

There was nothing we did not like about the hotel.
Perfect location close to the city center and in walking distance from Carolus Thermen. Excellent room, very quiet thanks to windows with excellent sound isolation. Bed was good, temperature was fine for us (not too hot!), bathroom was small but clean with a very good shower. Breakfast buffet was good, ample choice in both food and drinks. Staff was very helpful. All in all, highly recommended!

This was a central hotel with very friendly helpful staff. Good buffet breakfast especially the tea options. There's nothing extra remarkable about this hotel in terms of appearance but great staff and location make it a great option.

The staff were very friendly, breakfast was fine with a good selection of cheese, meats and small snacks. The hotel is conveniently located within 10 mins walk from the main square and all the main attractions. We went there to experience the Christmas markets and everything was close by.

I liked the whole experience.
Breakfast was a typical German breakfast. What was nice is that they prepared the eggs to individual order - most hotels prepare a large batch of scrambled eggs that are frankly, questionable. The room was a good size and comfortable. The hotel was close to the christmas markets which is why we chose this place. The hotel is a good hike from the main train station (hauptbahnhof) which I did not know because I did not ask in advance. The walk was good exercise though. We took the bus back to the train station for our return. Bring some rain gear as December in Germany tends to be rainy. I would stay here again if I was in Aachen.

The hotel does not have its own parking, but they booked a slot for us.

The breakfast was very basic and the coffee out of the machine was not good. We have had much better breakfasts in hotels in Aachen.

Putting the family room at the back, on the ground floor overlooking the street meant it was noisy and lacked some privacy. The parking is expensive and quite a walk from the hotel - which was conveyed in a message soon after booking but isn't clear before booking.

Excellent hotel,central location. Very spacious room,very clean,staff very welcoming and helpful. The room equipped with various comforts including a kettle with teas and coffees available to guest. Typical shops and restaurants can be found in the immediate vicinity of the hotel.

Lift(only one) is so small but not a big issue.
Near city center. Just 5 min from Dom. Clean room. Confortable wooden floor. Friendly staff that accepted my request to extend hours of my bicycle parking.

Germany generally seems to not know how to do pillows for bed. Very wide but not very substantial. It was noticeable everywhere so not just in this hotel

The room was small with a sloping roof over the bed which we banged our heads on getting out of bed. The shower was very cramped.
