Shower was a bit old fashioned & hard to get any pressure & temperature right. We were very surprised to be asked to pay the city tax on arrival which was another €15, as our booking.com confirmation stated all taxes and charges were included in the price and we had paid in full upfront months before.

Location was perfect with a spectacular view of the Lech River & mountains from the room with balcony. Room nice & spacious with everything you need including tea & coffee making facilities. Easy 10-15 minute walk into Fussen old town. Also a nice hike through the woods from right outside the Pension to Neuschwanstein Castle & lake in about 1 1/2 hrs depending on how fast you walk.

Property check in 1600, slightly unusual for any property, We reached early thinking we could leave our luggage and go to visit the castle. But there was no one there and everything was locked . There was a small cafe , but the sign board says it opens at 1700 . It was heavy rain at that time , no where to stand . The worst thing was , we were not really sure if this is the property of if that was the cafe . The property sign board was written as Steakehous , but the booking says Pension Steakhous It was confused because there was no one there and also the property is quite alone and few minutes away from other houses and town . We was climbing the hill on the rain after knocking this place and no one e answered. But it was like out of nowhere. Very frustrating, I tried to call and text the property. And thank god I got the reply and the person mentioned, they only will be there at1600 . So we had to wait till 1600 . When the receptionist arrived and he was apologetic and explained that he was 30 mins away at that time and they have lack of staff to be there .

When we enter the building, there was always a strong unpleasant smell. Thankfully this didn't affect the room. The room looks nice, but you can see it requires a bit of extra maintenance (if you care about details).

I highly recommend to book the room with balcony as it has a great view on the river Lech. You could admire the landscape while laying in your bed and you can enjoy the white noise sound of the waterfall when opening the door/window. You can barely hear the sound when the door/window are closed and it is really relaxing. The bed was comfortable and the room had a nice design. The accommodation is just a few minutes walk from the centre and it offers an easy system to check in and out by yourself. Moreover there is a nice restaurant on the ground floor.

Absolutely wonderful stay! The property overlooks the most gorgeous waterfall, which makes for an impressive view to wake up to. The host was very friendly and accomodating. The room was clean with all amenities. Highly recommend!

The only negative is that we couldn't stay longer.

Of all the places that we have stayed around Europe over the past month, this has to be our favourite. We were made to feel so welcome, the scenery and accommodation were so lovely and the food was amazing. We were initially staying one night but squeezed a second night into our schedule because we loved it so much.
