Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandGreat location, tidy and very pretty rooms. Warm with radiators. Not quite as the pictures though! Just a pillow each person, no extra blankets and a modern pull out couch - fine for our son but would not have comfortably slept 2 adults. Fridge was a drinks Fridge and nothing to do dishes with (soap, towel, cloth)

GermanyLocation was good, but right above a loud bar. It was noisy. But most importantly, one of the mornings, we ran out of hot water. I find this a deal breaker. I wouldn’t stay there again.

United StatesEven though we were grateful to stay in rooms in the same building, we struggled with the process of leaving out luggage in the luggage room. I believe check out was at 11, but we were planning to be enjoying the city at that time, and our train didn't depart until the evening. The manager gave us the options of dropping the bags at the main building (a 10 minute walk away from the building we were in) at 9:00 am or 12:00 pm. So, we'd either have to wake up earlier than we'd planned or interrupt our daily activities to attend to our luggage. We chose to wake up early, but when we arrived at the main location, no one was there and all the doors were locked. I repeatedly messaged and called the hotel, as I was very worried that they'd forgotten about the arrangement and that I'd be forced to interrupt my day to drop the luggage off. My husband walked around to the back of the building and found a maintenance worker to let him in, but this worker could not help us with the luggage room. Eventually, I got a call back from the hotel and someone showed up to open up the luggage room. The whole ordeal only took about 15 minutes, but it was very stressful and certainly not convenient.
I like Hotel Sudpfanne so much, I stayed there again on my second trip to Heidelberg. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, perfect if you're travelling with a dog and/or children. The restaurant is super cozy, has amazing food, beautiful table settings, and wonderful live music performed by a very friendly pianist who takes requests. The customer service is great as well. For my second stay, I'd had to book two rooms because my party was so large. Booking.com had automatically selected two rooms that (unbeknownst to me) were in two separate buildings, about a 10-minute walk apart. The hotel manager immediately knew this would be a problem and switched one of the rooms before we even had to ask. The location of the main building is amazing, as it's on a main road. The location of the alternate building isn't as great, but it's still centrally located in the city and a good place to start if you want to walk around.

Accomodation was large and spacious with different rooms. The two Beds were good and in two different rooms….. and the small kitchen was practical. Unpractical was that the second bedroom was in between the first one and kitchen/bathroom/toilet… Bathroom door was not working well and shower was ok but separated. Location was very good. Only a few meters away from the X-mas market/old town center. Can advise for a short stay fo a family.

Australia- The key entry to the room was a nightmare for us to lock / unlock! - Checking in was a bit of a mystery at first until we realised we had to go into the pub (next door on the right). We felt at the time we were a bit of an inconvenience to the staff that checked us in.
Room was very spacious with an update bathroom. We found the bed to be larger than the average size. Location was great, a 2-minute walk to where the old town starts. A short walk to shops and restaurants. If you want to go into the main city, a train station is about a 4-minute walk. Close to the castle / rail. If you want to go mountain bike riding, this is a great location to start at the bottom of the hill. The walk to the river was a short distance and all up around a 1hr round trip. The windows are thin panes of glass so I can understand on a busy night in the onsite beer garden, this could be quite disruptive with noise, but we never experienced this.
