Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe floors were *super* creaky. I couldn't take one step without making tons of noise (I'm an average-sized woman with a light step). I was on the top floor, so I could only hear the creaks made by me, but I would not have liked to be in the room below me. The street noise was also quite loud on the Friday night during my stay (though the accommodation supplies you with ear plugs), so is something to keep in mind if you're easily disturbed.
I stayed in the annex. The room was huge with great wifi and a big, comfy bed. The place was quite old, so I was worried it would be cold in the 0-4 degree C weather, but the heaters were very efficient and the hot water in the sink and shower was actually hot and heated up quickly. The room came with coffee plus coffee maker, an electric kettle, and a tiny mini-fridge. The location was right in the center of Altstadt.

Czech RepublicThe stated address marks the reception, but the actual "hotel" room is at a different location. I had a leg injury and have mobility problem, so I was hoping to book the place as close as possible to my conference venue. However, I had to walk on crutches much longer, it was very uncomfortable and stressful. Same goes for the apartment itself - the staircase is very steep, even the apartment has sever steps inside, so every time I wanted to get to the bathroom I had to jump. Things like that should be definitely included in the description (if I missed it, then they should be stated more clearly and intuitively). The apartment itself isn't really cozy - cheap furniture, the "kitchenette" is basically just a sink. Rather uncomfortable sleeping mat which I had to throw off the bed to get a proper sleep.

AustraliaCigarette smoke each night from the customers down stairs was hard to avoid until the business closed for the night, but that's likely to be an issue across the area.
Great location in the centre of the Alt Stadt and surrounded by restaurants. The room and bathroom is large with a very comfortable bed and pillows. It can be noisy with restaurant on the ground level but to me that added to the charm.

NetherlandsThe street was quite loud, there were a few bars below the rooms. We didn't get a baby bed for our 10 month old so we needed to improvise. As the room wasn't at the main hotel it wasn't easy to get in touch, we have 2 kids so wanted the stay to be as easy as possible. The room was clean but very low key. The bathroom could use some improvement on electricity as there were some visible wires.
Location was good, about a 5 minute walk from the main hotel.

United StatesCheck in was a little tricky. Had to go to the restaurant bar to check in then walk to the actual apartment. Not a big deal but be aware. Also, no elevator.
Location in the middle of the old city! Fans for the room were perfect for the warm weather.

New ZealandThe room we booked had a bathroom which was separate from the room on a shared corridor, although was only accessible by a key we were given.
Great location in the old town. Very easy to access all the main sights. The restaurant onsite was delicious, and the hotel was full of local character and charm.

AustraliaNothing. I’d stay again in a heart beat
the location is perfect, short walking distance to everything. I love the reception in the bar next door. Note, the access to the accomodation is just a door off the street then up the stairs. The rooms are unusually big and spotlessly clean. The are really helpful and friendly.

Australiait certainly not what we expected. We thought we get a two bedroom apartment. Except the second bedroom was the entrance hall, the "kitchen" and the walk to the bathroom all in one. The bed in the second bedroom was broken. The so called kitchen. was a table but into the entrance hall/ bedroom with a kettle and a beer fridge. But when using the kettle you had to unplug the fridge. The hotel unfortunate was very run down we had tape hold up cables. It would be a really nice place if some money was spend on it. ( it was quite expensive, too)
great location, very friendly staff.

GermanyI don’t recommend it at all. The Manager made us pay 150€ for cleaning the room and then kicked us out from the hotel and refused to refund us the money. The staff is very rude, the cleaning lady and the manager called the police on us because she was afraid of seeing us in a shop near the hotel. A lawyer is involved in this case of kicking us out and stealing money!

IrelandEverything was good, but watch out for late connections from Frankfurt airport to Heidelberg as you must check-in between 3 and 10pm, and collect your key from the hotel's restaurant during that time.
This hotel is perfectly located in the old town part of Heidelberg. Our apartment had 2 spacious bedrooms and a very nicely decorated bathroom. Room serviced everyday, even on Christmas day.
