Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SingaporeThe toilet’s dry area had no proper drainage. As the shower is small and the shower screen has no door, water easily splashes out. The flooring of the toilet was tilted towards the toilet door, and as a result i woke up with a puddle of water in front of my door the next morning
Clean and modern hotel. Renovation looks new, hotel was clean. I was happy with the hotel and would definitely stay again.

BulgariaThe breakfast is very very limited. And the refilling of finished products took ages or did not happen. The parking situation is pretty bad. We were offered a garage space for 20 euro a night but they said It'd be "too small" - we have a Golf. Parking outside is readily available but for 3.80 euro/hour. If you want a cheaper option, there is a parking 1m away which costs 10 euro a day. Which was ommitted by the staff.
Hotel was overall good. Clean, well-maintained, beautiful. Staff was polite and friendly.

ItalyThere was no door or curtain in the shower cabin which resulted in tons of water on the floor after taking it. The other moment was the unfriendliness from the lady at the reception. We arrived in the evening and paid 20 Euro to park in the hotel garage. The next morning we checked-out at around 11am and asked if we could leave the car in the garage until 2pm. We were bluntly told no and that we will need to pay another 20 Euro for that. It was quite embarrasing considering the overall good impression from the hotel. The garage was actually empty or at least we could potentially be given some polite explanations, for example sorry guys, but the garage is fully booked for those who will check-in today. Even though the check-in is at 2pm and we would drive out by that time. We then parked the car in the city parking and wondered if that would have been cheaper to use that public place rather than the hotel... The attitude of the lady (not the fact that we could not use the garage) left a bad impression at the end unfortunately even though I liked the hotel. 😕
The room was extremely cosy and clean, exactly what I really like, the location is perfect too, just two steps from the center. .

CambodiaThe double bed is really quite small! I would recommend getting a twin room unless you are very comfortable with your buddy. The breakfast was nice but very basic!
The service was impeccable and the rooms were pristinelly clean. The bathrooms were amazing and all amenities were provided. The location was also great as its on a quiet street but extrememly close to the city center.

BulgariaThe size of the room and the bed were definitely underwhelming. It's difficult for two people to stay in the room and on the bed. The breakfast was definitely overpriced and lacked the selection one is usually expecting for this price.
It was clean and well maintained. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, which I greatly appreciate. They helped me figure out options for parking even though there was none available at the property.

United StatesI recently stayed at The Alex Hotel for two nights, and I must admit that my experience was far from what I had hoped for. The first issue was the size of the room. It was much smaller than I had anticipated based on the information provided during the booking process. This lack of space made it somewhat uncomfortable to move around and relax in the room. However, the most significant problem was the malfunctioning electronic window. It wouldn't close properly, which meant that the room's air conditioning couldn't function as it should. This issue was not discovered until after midnight, causing some disruption to my night's sleep. Despite notifying the hotel staff promptly, they were unable to resolve the problem in a timely manner. In an effort to address the inconvenience, I politely asked for compensation in the form of a complementary breakfast. Unfortunately, my request was declined by the hotel staff, which was disappointing. In summary, my stay at The Alex Hotel left much to be desired. I expected a more comfortable and trouble-free experience. While the issues I encountered were not major, they did affect my overall satisfaction with the stay. I hope the hotel can address these concerns to ensure a better experience for future guests.
The room was modern and clean. They offered breakfast and the WiFi worked well. The Check in process was also smooth.

IndiaRooms were so small that it was difficult to even get around. Was difficult to set up 2 suitcases. Reminded me of Japan hotels. No tea/coffee in room or any kettle. Even refill of bottle of water was not given and we had to buy water. This was funny as we could ask for Ice or hot water and it was supplied without any fuss.
Location was fine. A short walk from station. It was a quiet area so no disturbance in sleep. Staff was very good and helpful. The main areas of Freiburg were walking distance. Room had dark shutter curtains so no early light in morning.

GermanyThe staff was polite , but not very engaging. Personally speaking, the hotel is missing a bit the soul, while very modern and super clean. The hotel has a good marketing strategy on booking.com, offering reductions online and thus attracting clients world wide. However, in the end with the reduced fees, you end up in a very small room with a 1,40m bed and not much space. I would have expected to be informed about the small size of the bed when making the booking on booking.com, but unfortunately this info was not shared. When we addressed the reception with this, they blamed the third party (Booking.com). I think this is unacceptable. Every hotel decides exactly what is being put online on these platforms. Another point is the parking situation. The hotel has no parking options. You can pay outside for public parking, but need to pay every 2 hours to extend the parking time. This is not so much of the deal, but wanted to mention it. Key is that I would have liked to receive transparent info about the bed size when booking.
The hotel is very clean and modern.
