Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):

We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

United StatesThe check in process was a bit of a nightmare. There wasn’t a link to fill out a form on the booking.com’s confirmation email so we waited outside the Doorman for 90 minutes at 10:30pm before we were able to have staff meet us at the office to let us in. (We walked to a coffee shop, then made about 10 phone calls before someone agreed to meet us at the office for an $80.00 fee).
The location was amazing. Very clean and updated. No wasted space.

IcelandCheck-in was a very tedious process. We were tired after our flight and it didn't help that the digital key they gave us to be able to enter the property and the room did not work. We called the property/hotel to let them know that our digital keys didn't work and it took quite some time to resolve it. We were also not the only guests who had trouble with the digital keys. Thankfully the other guests spoke German and could better communicate with the staff over the phone. If it wasn't for those guests, getting into the property would probably have taken a much longer time.
The room and building itself was very nice and did meet my expectations. It was fairly clean and had more than enough kitchen appliances for two. Amenities were good, they had a laundry room and a place to take the trash. The location of the property couldn't have been better. There's also an elevator in the building. When our digital key didn't work to enter the property a staff member came by bike and gave us a physical card (used as a key to enter the property and room), he was very nice to us.

ParaguayWhile the check-in via an app presented a challenge (particularly for those less technologically inclined or without immediate internet access upon arrival) it initially proved a tad intricate. The absence of staff or reception made it difficult to ask for help. However, once navigated successfully, the system itself operated seamlessly. Despite this initial hiccup, I would still recommend this apartment (albeit with the caveat of ensuring internet connectivity beforehand)
Comfortable, spacious, clean and modern apartment. Very well appointed kitchen area and unbeatable location within walking distance to places of interest. Excellent value for money, making it a truly rewarding choice of accomodation.

United KingdomWe didn't receive any communication from the property owner prior to arriving on how to access the property, or what rooms we'd been allocated to. We phoned when we arrived and the staff member was very helpful, but it took about 15/20 minutes before we received the communication on how to get to our rooms. We then had to download an App which enabled us access to the property/rooms. The staff member mentioned that a location nearby had 'physical keys' if we couldn't get in with the digital key (the App). We collected the 'physical keys' just in case we needed them. If we'd known all this prior to arriving it would have been very helpful.
Beautiful rooms with excellent facilities. Very clean and comfortable. Good location - close by the city with good connections to the rail network

South AfricaCheck-in was difficult - as a tourist you don't necessarily have or want to pay for transport and to get from the building where check-in takes place and back to the actual apartments was a long walk. On arriving to check-in I couldn't find the bell (had a long international flight....) so I knocked, and eventually the person managing the check-in stormed to the door and barked that the bell was on the left. Unnecessarily rude. If you don't want to assist guests then don't work in hospitality - guests pay your salary.
i was not expecting a studio apartment but rather a hotel room, not sure that this is clear on the booking.com site, but did not matter.

FranceIn our specific case the fridge was very noisy when the cooling started. We turned it off the second night. The access system requires an app on a smart phone. It would have been nice if we had been informed about it before. However, it worked extremely well.
The location is great. Short walks to you to all interesting places in the center. The apartment is very modern and clean and is equipped with all the things necessary.

GermanyWe didn’t like the distance to our room from lifts, quite a long walk. We took the option to have our room cleaned every three days they turned up on the forth day. And only changed the towels and took the rubbish. The hallway had never been vacuumed we understand that they are still working in the rooms,but hallways need to be clean.
The location of hotel was central to everything we wanted to see. The room it self was great. Plus liked the fact the bar was open 24hrs.

Hong Konglack of a real person present somewhere would have been ideal as we were given the wrong wifi password and it took quite a long time to get someone who actually had the passwords to then get us the correct one the following day. If I didn't have my own portable wifi, it would have been a real problem connecting with the staff.
Modern, convenient, right at Hauptwache. Everything was wonderful. It's all a little too tech for me with no human in sight and everything operating from one's phone but I guess it's the times. A happy customer.

PolandThe first morning we were sleeping, it was 9 am, and a girl from the cleaning service OPENED THE DOOR AND TURNED ON THE LIGHTS and asked us if there was any trash to pick up. This was a disgusting experience. But it was not all. The following day, the check out was at 11. We called to make a late checkout or if we could leave the luggage for a couple of hours. The girl asked for the personal information like 3 times (data included in the reservation form) and said she would call back to give us an answer. We agreed on, while she gets the information, we would go for breakfast. Not only she never called back, but when we arrived to the room at 12, it was locked with all of our staff in there. We had to call a another phone number and the gay asked for the same personal information and finally he said: download an application. We could take out our luggage and left. The worst experience ever.
The room has everything you would need to stay a few days in Frankfurt. The location is really good and near of the main touristic areas

Eventually after trying messages, emails, calls while waiting in street outside front door for an hour + cleaning staff arrived and assisted. She was super helpful. During : Key access stopped working at 9am (2 1/2 hrs prior departure!) (soap dispensers so dysfunctional had to go out and buy cake of soap (worried contents will be abused?? ))

After I found a mobile number and talked with someone a couple times, they sent me to a cafe near the property to take physical key. The problem is that I had to find a way to take the key, nobody from the property cared.
