The location was perfect. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room decor was a little dated but the room was a good size, bathroom was large with a bath which is great after a long day sightseeing. The views from the room and bathroom were beautiful.

Tub/shower was challenging to get in/out of. The hairdryer was also challenging. It got too hot and stopped after 15 seconds, if it was too close to your head. I asked the staff and was told it was for safely reasons.

It's an older (quaint) property so the elevator (as many in Europe) is tiny and quite slow (we often couldn't even tell we were moving). WiFi was spotty on one or two occasions, but worked most of the other time.

This family-run, cozy property is only a short walk (less than 5 minutes) from the heart of Munich, Marienplatz and very close to the Isartor metro station. The best aspect was the friendly staff, who even provided us the opportunity for an early check-in after our overnight flight and early arrival in the morning at the hotel. This made all the difference in us acclimatizing, getting a bit of rest, and freshening up before exploring the city. Cleaning the rooms was always good, there was a free minibar with nice drinks and a few small snacks and the complimentary umbrellas to borrow at the front came in handy several times. We didn't try the breakfast (it seemed a bit expensive). Perhaps our other favorite aspect was our room on the top floor with a cozy sloping roof and a magical view out of the "attic" window right over Marienplatz (the town hall tower) and the twin towers of the Frauenkirche.

Fantastic location in the old town, walking distance to lots of the main sights and right next to an S-Bahn station. The staff were friendly, welcoming and very helpful. The restaurant recommendations they gave us were great. The room itself had a lovely outlook and was reasonably spacious. The bathroom was lovely with a fantastic shower. We enjoyed the generous breakfast each morning. Highly recommend Hotel Torbäu for your stay in Munich.

The s8 was out of service on our arrival date. A note was posted at the property. It would be a good idea to push that kind of information to arriving guests that would be arriving during that window of time. We were jet lagged and there was a language barrier. A kind person at the train helped us out so that we could use transportation to Marienplatz.

Only one very slight thing was that the air conditioning unit in our room (515) was very noisy and disturbed my sleep a little bit !

The property is in a great location in the Old Town. There is so much history to the hotel and the breakfast and staff were amazing. Would book again if we visit Munich again.

Our room was newly remodeled. We especially liked the bathroom. However, as seems to be the trend now-a-days the room itself was remodeled in a spartan manner - hard surface floor (no carpet) and very modern furniture and decorating. I do not care for this style, but prefer the comfort of carpet and more traditional decorating/furniture in my hotel room. And, given that the Hotel Torbrau is a very old establishment in the old city area of Munich, such a modern room seemed out of place, especially given that the rest of the hotel is decorated in traditional style.

The only fault was the water pressure in the shower was very low. I didn’t mention this as I forgot to - and then didn’t worry as we were only there 2 nights.

Beautiful property - fantastic location - close to Marienplatz and also Isator Gate - and also very convenient to the train station - making it easy to get to the airport. Easy walking distance to many of Munich’s attractions. Our room was very quiet, comfortable and quite spacious with a separate sitting area. The bar in the Restaurant Schapeau was lovely - with a great and attentive bartender.
