I believe the heating system is damaged. I turned on the heating for a few minutes to dry the kids' clothes after the rain, and when I turned it off, it continued to heat for five hours. It became extremely hot inside, as the heating was at maximum despite being turned off. Additionally, the extra bed for the kids was broken.

The location was excellent, featuring a charming old building that houses the hotel. There is also a perfect restaurant on the ground floor.

Poor ventilation in the room so impossible to sleep comfortably with the windows shut but a lot of loud noise in the morning from bin collection and restaurants stocking up.

Great location, friendly staff, good sized room and bathroom. Super accommodating when we asked to have an extra bed and were allowed to check in much earlier than usual check in time.

Cleanliness of room wasn’t great. Thick dust under the bed and behind bedside cabinets. No tea/coffee facilities in the room. A lot of noise from the street on the Friday night ( did not sleep at all).

I had a lot of difficulty finding the entrance to the hotel and would have appreciated clearer directions. The building number is under an awning which was packed with people eating outside the restaurant, and made it very difficult to see the correct door to enter.

I enjoyed the breakfast served every morning. But the location was the real selling point, and it did not disappoint. I arrived right at the start of the Christmas Market season and was able to enjoy all the festivities. The location is also an easy walk, with luggage, from the train station.

Breakfast was a disappointment. The selection of food was not great, and at least once the eggs were so salty as to be unedible. The other issue was the coffee machine. It was wonderful; made all kinds of coffee and milk drinks. The problem was there was only one machine and each coffee took several minutes to make. Would be fine, except if you have several people in front of you, each making a couple of coffee drinks. Took way too long.

The location at the head of the Heumarkt was perfect. Easy to get to the Rhine, the shopping area and dozens of great places to eat. And right in front one of the Christmas Markts was especially great.

Reception closes early and out of hours check in took a while to find someone. The rooms have no comfortable chairs (just one stool by the small desk) and neither is there a lounge with comfortable chairs. There are no facilities to make hot drinks in the room. The bedding is typical German style individual duvets but they are very narrow and tend to come off in the night.

An excellent location, especially for when the Cologne Christmas markets are on as it is right on one of the main squares where one happens. The rooms are clean, good bathroom facilities and comfortable beds. Breakfasts are good, and the restaurant is very good (although it us busy with outside customers so may take a while to get a seat).
