Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyIt's a bit confusing that there is no reception. In case of any problems or questions you don't really know where to turn to. Also, I found it very unsafe that "check-in" was not done by a person but there was a table at the entrance with the notes of the last names of travelers, room numbers and the keys. The hotel entrance door was not locked, so basically anyone could come into the hotel and take the key. The surrounding area is not very exciting or pleasant. The price is a bit too high for what the hotel has to offer. Also the check-in is until 20.00. If you arrive later you can't check in.
The hotel offers very basic rooms and breakfast but that's all you need for a short stay. The room was spacious, not too hot (which was very nice because I was in the hotel when it was +35 degrees outside) and very clean. The breakfast was simple but delicious. The staff was friendly.

NetherlandsWell, to get in & out of the shower sink one has to take a big step. After showering (all OK, modern equipment) one has to take care for not slipping. Perhaps an anti-slip device in the sink or additional grips would be helpful. Although the breakfast features a big enough assortiment we didn't like the pre-baked 'wholemeal' breadrolls. 1) they are hard, 2) the 'wholemeal' inside is just brown coloured very airy dough and having little feeding quality. Also the assortiment of round ham slices fails to disguise its cheapish Aldi or Kaufland origin having little extra taste. The yoghurt cups boasted 0% fat and tasted slimy. There are boxes with cornflakes and mixed with these the taste is just about acceptable. Of course all in all we had our breakfast, but for this price category one expects more enjoyment than just an array of plain supermarket stuff. One exception: there was a basket with coloured Easter eggs. Bravo! That's the way how to please your Hotel guests.
Zewener Hof Garni is a former hotel (with big restaurant spaces on the ground floor) that is now solely used for its hotel rooms and the breakfast room. On arrival we easily found the key of our room prepared at the entrance. The room (13) has a white tile floor and a huge balcony overlooking the Mosel valley. Each of the three windows features metal shutters, that also help to keep outside heat out. The bathroom is quite basic and features a shower and a sink in beige colours from the eighties. The towels deserve praise for their very good quality . We slept well. The bedding is OK. From 7.30 to 9.30 one is able to get breakfast in a dedicated huge space on the ground floor. For our travel goals (we wanted to see Trier and had businesss in Luxembourg) the location of the hotel is ideal. For those who have their car with them we advise to take the riverbank road to Wasserbillig on the Luxembourg border, because then you are closest to lots & lots of cheaper priced petrol stations. The university town of Trier is well worth a touristic visit. We had dinner close to the famous Roman gate 'Porta Nigra'. Also the Dom of Trier is impressive: huge Romanesque architecture.

Hong KongOnly a few restaurants nearby.
The staff are friendly, really good breakfast. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Although it is near the railway, it is seldom used, and the soundproofing is really nice.

NetherlandsVery unpersonal. Key was to be found at a desk on the side entrance. No information about the hotel whatsoever. Would have been nice to have found some information about breakfast times etc.
