The location was handy to take a cab into town. The bar was a nice place to wind down after a day of travel the staff work very hard to ensure you enjoy.

I arrived at ca. 5.30a.m. and they had alrady the room available for me which was soooo good. It is a traditional hotel which gives a cozy and competent feeling. didnt have breakfeast cause I was busy outside. Slept until late and it was amazingly quiet. the bus stop is right on front of the door and has the name of the hotel, bus passess by very frequently and brought me conveniently to where I had to go. the neighborhood and proximity thereof is quite interesting, and there are enough options for eating, supermarket in front, etc. I extended the booking for 1 day which worked seamless w/o changing the room. dont want to comment about every detail but I would say it is a good place to stay, and cheaper than in the very center. didnt use the sauna which is a nice plus (cause I went to the thermalbath).

Rooms on the street side of the hotel are noisy. Ask for a room on the other side. Limited parking located across the street from the hotel.

Good value for what you get. Spacious, clean room. Shower was hot with good pressure. Easy access to the city with public transportation.

Its not a complaint but would be nice to give it a modern touch, quite old furniture and tv, not bad but i think time has come. I ordered a (Schnitzel) to take in my room, was terible, verry oily and blend, definitly was my fault, kitchen was closing and i was the last anoying customer, i understand that, but better not make it then make it and its just horible, because the restaurant its known for the best SCHNITZEL in town.

Staff, the reception lady was amazing, verry frendly and helping me out with the parking. Room and bathroom very clean. Comfy bed.

I had 2 extended stays at the zum Schiff. The January stay was much more leisurely and relaxed as the hotel was quieter. During the second, peak season, stay, the staff were at times seeming overwhelmed and busy. But it is still an excellent place to stay in Freiburg. And the food in the restaurant is excellent, the house wine excellent, and the breakfasts excellent.

All in all is a good choice but not for solo travel-visiting Freiburg...but hey, last second booking and was one of the cheapest options Pillow waaaay too soft and big..seems a standard in DE

To be outside of the center, it is very close to line 11 which brings you directly to Hbf. Runs quite frequently and till midnight all days. I really did not take advantage too much of the place, but it has sauna and decent restaurant. Lots of free parking. Very quiet (at least my room was opposite to the street and far from elevator).

The only negative was it's distance from the town centre but there is a bus service outside the door and we walked about 35 mins to get there.

Friendly staff. The hotel felt like a traditional German Hostelry catering not just to tourists but locals, it was lovely.
