Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BelgiumRoom 6 is about 20m2 including bathroom, definitely not 30 as the desciption mentions. Low ceiling so it did feel a bit cramped versus what we expected from the description. There was only 1 chair (no couch as picture in description might give impression. There was a shared space with couch further down the hall) and only 1 glas next to the water bottle, but we used one from the bathroom. The bathroom had a huge glass window toward the room where you see everything. Even the toilet was partially visible if you walked in from the hall. If you are not a couple, you probably won't enjoy it like that. Even as a couple, it was a bit strange. Picture is the view on the shower from the bed.
Very nice breakfast served. The tables are ready on arrival with bread and coffee and the owners bring some meats and cheeses to your table, and you have chance to request fruit, yoghurt, egg, ... and a selection of tea and coffee. Nice orange juice, but it's not freshly squized as I read in another review. The area for the breakfast is very cozy. The inside of the hotel in general is very cozy. Bottle of water on arrival in the room. Parking was for us street parking behind the hotel. There are also a few places next to the hotel but this was full. Nice hiking in the area!

United KingdomThe curtains in our room were a little thin and let the light through as we normally have blackout curtains, but not a huge problem. The restaurant wasn't open the day we arrived which was a shame, but we found a nice restaurant just up the street a few hundred metres away, so not an issue really, but it would have been nice to eat there as it was one of the reasons that I booked a hotel with a restaurant !!
A very pleasant stay and a huge comfortable bed. The room was very large, clean and characterful with a nice bathroom. We arrived quite late (7pm) but check in was fine. Parking is in a separate area opposite a few dozen metres away. Breakfast is continental with superb bread, various hams and meats, cheese, cereals and jams and honey, really nice quality and plenty to eat. The hosts even offered us the opportunity to make some sandwiches from our breakfast selection for our onward journey and filled our flask with some tea ! Awesome. The village is very pretty and there is a spectacular castle and church just a few minutes walk up the top of the hill.

United KingdomThe WiFi only worked marginally. Poor signal strength and the speed was slow. Fortunately we could use a cellphone instead and the hotel is in an area where it worked well.
It’s a traditional German hotel. Full of character. Staff were very welcoming. If you need staff who can speak English, both of the ones we met spoke perfect English. Situated in a beautiful town. Good choice of restaurants within just a short walk. Definitely one to return to.

United KingdomWe loved the atmosphere in this hotel and the beautiful wooden furnishings throughout including in our room. It was for us very conveniently situated in the centre of Nideggen with safe parking just across the road in a small courtyard area. We were only there for one night so didn't see a lot of our hosts, but they were very welcoming. Breakfast was lovely, fantastic fresh bread!

United KingdomOnce again we have stayed at the Zur Ewigen Lampe, a favourite of ours for one night stays en route to the Alps and back. It is a perfect stop off in the stunningly beautiful town of Nideggen. The option of wonderful dining in the hotel, or other fantastic options close by in the town and simply superb. We alway walk up to and around the Burg Nideggen, where there is also a restaurant serving first class food. The owners of the Z.E.L. are simply charming, always helpful with parking and they look after us as though we are family. The owner recognised me from my visit in March this year, 4 months prior to this stay, and made us very welcome. This was the first time that I've stayed with my partner and she thought the hotel was absolutely wonderful too. Room was very clean a super-spacious, lovely bathroom, very comfy beds (we like a firm bed) and excellent breakfast, all beautifully laid out on our table. Indeed, since it was looking as though we were not going to eat all of our breakfast the owner very kindly asked if we would like to make up some rolls for our lunch to take with us - what a lovely gesture!

PolandThe owners of the hotel are very nice, breakfast sufficient.... The only thing I personally missed was the lack of coffee/tea making facilities in the room. Nevertheless, I always go back there when I am in the area. Cosy place for everyone J
