Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe toilet and shower facilities did need a little attention and as always, the hostel has to lose a point for a lack of privacy curtains! Really makes such a big difference particularly if other guests insist on turning on the main room light at all hours of the night, as was the case with this visit—was quite amused to see my bunk mate had resorted to hanging their entire duvet as a makeshift curtain but speaks volumes as to why they should be standard across all hostels. The hostel is in a fairly popular area with a lot of foot and road traffic so can be a little noisy at certain times, but for a location this central I think it’s an acceptable compromise.
First time staying in this particular location but not my first time staying with Generator hostels both within the UK and overseas, haven’t had a negative experience with any of them. This is another hostel chain that frames itself around being young and trendy which is no bad thing if that’s what you’re looking for! They offer plenty of info about events and activities to take part in during your stay. The location of this hostel is fantastic, centrally-located and quite literally over the road from Rosenberg Castle and Copenhagen’s incredible Botanical Gardens/Natural History Museum. Staying here also puts you very close to the shopping streets of Indre By, and Tivoli Gardens is just a short walk away too. Walk right outside the main entrance and there is a Netto supermarket which has decent selection and prices. As at all Generator’s in my experience, the beds are pretty good and comfy compared to similarly priced hostels, and the staff are always chatty and friendly.

AustraliaSpace between upper and lower bunk not high enough (I am only 5'3"). Could not sit up in bed. Had to duck to get in and out. Hit my head multiple times. As far as I could tell cleaner only cleaned room once in 6 nights. 6 bed dorm should probably only had 4 beds in it.
Great location

ArgentinaKitchen closed at 9pm. And there's no kitchen for guests to use like in every other hostel, or a fridge to put private food, not even in the 6 people room. Bed mattress could be more comfortable and a bit bigger. Bathroom in the room is very tiny. Staff could be more accommodating.
Hostel has great infrastructure, bar, outdoor and indoor space, games, super complete (lacks guest access to kitchen+fridge). Bed setup is great, with a shelf, two outlets and light, plus a semi-closing to give some privacy. Shower pressure and temperature was great (though very tiny space).

IcelandThe bed was super stiff and uncomfy. The hotel has only one elivator which is very slow and people love to use it. The price for the stay is backed up by the hotel's location but it has no extra "luxury" No one cleaned our room while we stayed there. I don't know if that is the standard at Generator Copenhagen.
The location was perfect! The food at the restaurant was good and beer was fairly priced ( considering prices in the area)

United StatesSeemed a bit dirty or unmaintained. No toilet paper in the room. I know lodging is expensive but for $145/night I expected at least basic standards. The staff did offer to provide toilet paper if we went to the front desk to pick it up

ColombiaThere was apparently no daily cleaning service, they could perhaps offer this. The room is extremely small, but this is an acceptable tradeoff for the price one is paying.
The location was excellent. In the middle of Copenhagen and just by the Nyhavn. Very good to get around in the basic & top highlights of the city. The staff was super friendly, the price was also fantastic (considering how expensive Copenhagen is).

The location is great and in walking distance of many of the main areas. Lots of bars, restaurants and shops nearby. The hostel was great value for money compared to other properties nearby by. There was a great atmosphere in the bar area too!

BrazilThe curtain close to the bed was too short, allowing the sunlight enter in the room. It wouldn’t be a problem, if the bed wouldn’t be close to the window, so, the sun goes directly to your face.

GreeceI don't find very functional to have the sink inside the rooms since you make so much noise while others might want to sleep.

United StatesThe "shower" was basically a shower head in the middle of the tiny bathroom, no door either. Also there were no hand towels and it seemed like the bathroom had not been cleaned in a while.
Very convenient location, we were able to walk to all of our destinations and never had to take a taxi or Uber.

SloveniaI didn't like that there were no kitchen for the guests to prepare our own food. The lock for the box under the bed should be same size in all Generator hostels. :) I brought mine which I had bought in Stockholm and it was too small. The sink in the middle of the room is quite uncomfortable to use, since all the others must witness how you brush your teeth. :D
I liked the environment, the location and vibe in the hostel.
