Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaProbably 2 things....one, the entertainment could have been better. They had it start at 10pm which was far too late for me. Other resorts I have been to start around 7.30pm. Second, I would have liked a pool with a deep end. Maybe I didn't see it, but all the pools were very shallow. I guess they fear some drunk person drowning.
The food was absolutely fabulous. You could live on just the fruits and salads, there was so much of it. All the specialty restaurants were great as well. Staff was very friendly and helpful....I suppose it helped that I speak pretty good Spanish. The beach and ocean water were just great as well

CanadaThere are almost no English-speaking staff here. It was hard to find the elevators. It's hard to get help, even at Guest Services. So if you need anything, such as the total price you're paying at a shop? Good luck to you. We felt a lot of frustration over this aspect especially since English is supposed to be this country's second language.
The room, facilities and amenities were all excellent. These pools are superior to other resorts we have been going to Punta Cana twice a year for 8 years. The food was superior. The bars are excellent. There are shops and golf, arcade, tennis and bowling. Loved it all!

PeruThere was not enough staff in the buffet restaurants and the coffee machines broke down all the time
I stayed there 12 years ago and was happy to see that many things had been renovated and the hotel looked very well maintained. Bathrooms had been remodelled, the sheets were new, etc. The beach at the hotel is wonderful.

Dominican RepublicFor the drinks they are using disposable plastic cups and many people only throw it away in the sand what inevitably reaches the sea, ironically they give you the drink in a disposable cup with a paper straw,🙃, just use reusable glasses like in many other hotels I have visited, help the environment.
The beach is the best, you always have a place to sit and there aren’t many people

United KingdomWhilst there was a wide variety of foods some was done very well others not so much. You will find something to eat but you might have to have that every night at the buffet. The bookable restaurants are worth booking on your first night. The soft drinks available at the buffets do not taste anything like their namesakes.
The location is amazing, the beach is right on your doorstep and even if it's busy a short walk will take you to the quieter parts. Pools were fun and there were lots of activities to get involved with. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Costa RicaThe buffet food isn’t the best. They have a lot of variety but the quality is not good. We also didn’t like the steakhouse restaurant. It took us 1.5 hours to get our dinner and the quality wasn’t good. Check in time took us 45 minutes and then we had to go back and spent another 30 minutes to get our room number.
The pool and beach area are great. They are big enough to have room for everyone but still it doesn’t feel crowded. A big plus for us was to have some water sports such as kayak, windsurfing, boats included. The Japanese restaurant is a must have. The best restaurant from all.

CanadaWi-fi connection is poor in some places. Superior room is a bit old.
I like the location, one of the best beaches. There is a big choice of restaurants a la carte to choose for every evening. A lot of activities: theatre shows, sport bars, water aerobics, beach sport activities. The territory is well maintained, green and bright.

IsraelThe only thing I can point out that could be improved is the kids club offer. The kids club was great but there was no program for different activities throughout the day, it was more of a free play type of thing where younger kids quickly got bored. The staff was nice but would’ve been great if their English was better. For non-Spanish speaking children I felt like there was a language barrier that made our toddler a bit lost at times and he needed us to help him communicate with the staff on his behalf. The staff felt shay to engage kids who didn’t speak Spanish also.
First of all I will begin by saying that we staid in the Premium suite and wow it was huge! We were in the building closest to the main buffet, pools and the beach which was an excellent choice as this resort is massive and a more distant location on the property would be way less convenient. The food in the buffet was fresh and the variety was amazing! The hotel restaurants don’t disappoint either! Lunch and breakfast at the Coral and dinner at La Comedieu was superb. The place is very clean and well maintained. Overall we hit the jackpot with Barceló Bavaro!
