Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesSome street noise. This is the DR though so...
Been here about 8 years ago and maybe at least 4 times. They always have a dog to walk and hang out with. When I baked my own Beef Jerky this proved helpful as dogs love that too. In these hot areas I have been using my car as a food dehydrator.

CroatiaThe apartment definitely need adaptation, both in rooms, kitchen area and bathroom. The furniture is quite old, but if you do not expect high class, it is OK.
We stayed for 7 nights in the upper apartment named Fuffy, and we may stay here again if we return to Las Terrenas. From entrance, you enter first bedroom with large bed and a wardrobe. From this room you enter the bathroom and second bigger room kitchen and entrance to the private terrace, a large bed, sitting area, smart TV and WiFi. A/C available but looked very old, and was charged extra, we did not use it. Bathroom is big with shower. Water pressure was not the best but this is a general problem in DR. The staff do not speak English, only Spanish, but we communicated with them via Google Translator, and they were always around and very helpful when needed. There were constructions ongoing around when we stayed in February 2023, but there was no noise from them, just the view was not so nice. The house is surrounded with walls and a beautiful garden inside, you can also park inside the walls. On upper level there is room for hanging washed clothes and also an open shared terrace. Kitchen definitely need adaptation, refrigerator is yellow inside, and equipment is old, but if you do not expect high class, there is enough for basic cooking. There is a small shop with some groceries and water just outside, but there are also lots of other shops and supermarkets not so far away. Nearest beach Playa Bonita is about 15-20 minutes walking distance, a few minutes by car. The beach is very long with palms giving a nice shade, crystal clear water, but a bit too much waves for swimming. Although a great place for surfing. There are many hotels along the beach with good food and drinks and live music. The city is also close, about 5-10 min by car, but it is very crowded and hard to find parking. There are a few good supermarkets with big parking where you can stay for free, many restaurants, shops and all the long sandy beaches in Las Terrenas are beautiful.

CanadaThe location is on a busy road ( leading to the beach)with frequent motorcycle traffic. Less frequent late at night, of course, but we found it a bit loud at times.
Location is good; 15 minutes walk to the Playa Bonita beach and restaurants . Shopping close by where we could buy basic groceries and fresh produce. One produce stall is next door, where we purchased delicious fruits and vegetables; sometimes eggs. Bonita Bodega is a gem and we stopped in frequently for many grocery items and liquor. A cute little tiki style restaurant bar is also on the same road, where we had a delicious meal We loved the balcony overlooking the pretty gardens, the kitten and sweet dog. The bed was comfortable and fans kept us cool. Sergio was available for any questions we had and is an attentive host. He offered us tips including a full schedule for buses; something I was unable to find myself online. We mostly cooked in and stuck to basic meals.

NetherlandsThere is a very heavy trafficed route right next to the appartement. Lot of big construction verhicles passing from 6AM to 8AM. Bad luck is the speedbump that is next to the house entrance that gives a lot of extra breaking and pulling noise. Housekeeping only speaks Spanish, we do not, so that gives a barrier. Correspondence is by owner (not on the premises) through whattsapp (English). Face to face is nicer.
Very nice appartement with a small but also very nice garden. In the garden is a jacuzzi for cooling down.

FranceThey welcome you the Dominican way. Don't expect any information on what's to do in the area. You have to pay extra for te AC. They say you have a kitchen but than does not inclue forks or knifes...so don't even think about salt or pepper.
