Facilities are non existant, pool closes at 6pm, drinks are lowest quality, wine is overpriced with an abnormally high mark up of over 200%-300%, rooms are old and several items do not function such as bath does not seal properly, no hot water, electricity sockets falling off and becoming dangerous to use, inadequate lighting and just run down in general. Also the fact that you have to pay everything in advance or they cancel the booking and once you pay they never send you a payment confirmation. Also no invoice on check out as payment was done online. I do not know what kind of scam they are running but will never go back

The food compared to similar priced resorts in Dom rep is not bad.. doesnt mean its good, just that the standard in this country is really low

Avoid Bahia Principe Grand La Romana at all cost, if you do not want to see your vacation ruined. Our family decided to get together for a vacation in late June 2023. We arrived at the property at 14:30 (check-in time at 15:00) and were informed that their system showed there were six persons and not 8, and we should pay about $1,500 for those not included. Never mind that our receipt shows the payment was correctly made. And never mind that the mistake was made either by the Bahia staff or by Booking.com through whom the original reservation was made. The manager, Alejandro Garsia, at Bahia Principe Grand La Romana, said we should have ensured everything was correct before arriving. Why should we have worried that something is wrong when our reservation and receipts show everything is correct he did not explain. After arriving at the property, we have spent FIVE HOURS at the front desk trying to check-in. The manager, at the front desk stated, "This is not his problem," we should call booking.com. He blamed booking.com for this mistake. Multiple phone calls to Booking, com did not resolve the issue as the calls were dropped and not answered by the property staff (Booking.com said they were trying but were unable to reach the property by phone). The manager said a few times that we must pay additionally to check in; otherwise, we would not be checking in. Very warm greetings! Only when it became obvious that the offices were closing for the day and there will no one answering our calls any further were we allowed to get to our room (at 7:48 pm), leaving the issues to be resolved the next morning (exciting news when you came for vacation!). PS: no one was swimming in the ocean because the water was dark, grey with an unpleasant smell. There was no seaweed on the beach. I will never visit again and will make sure to warn friends and strangers alike.

I like that eventually I got the room with air conditioning!! The air conditioning in the room was blowing circulated air at room temperature, no matter what the thermostat setting showed. For two days in a row, the technician came to take a look at the room, then left and never returned again. We were transferred to another room on the third day, because "the problem cannot be resolved quickly". So, 3 out of 5 nights, we spend without conditioner in very hot weather with high humidity.

The pool was not clean at all. The sea was great disappointment. Very dirty and not clear at all. the pictures are so deceptive.

The entertainment crew was amazing. So fun & so engaging. The staff were nice.

The room was not clean, there was not toilet paper, napkins, not soap, not blanket. It was a bad cleaning service and customer service was very bad. The safe box was not working. This was a bad experience. It was a fight of a group of persons at the pool of the family hotel and the hotel personnel could not control the issue. That was a very scary moment that reflect, that the security personnel was not prepared for that type of event (drunk group of persons)

The reception - people working there should be more focused on what they are doing. Because I booked 9 rooms under one reservation. Almost at the end of our stay, we discovered that the rooms were assigned randomly to names and people from one family were assigned to different rooms or the rooms were assigned without any common sense - for example - the family with the baby was assigned to the room which is next to the evening entertainment - loud music and the patio where people meet. The waitress - barely speak English and is difficult to communicate . Customer service - could do better - I have sent an email about something I forgot in my room and until now no answer at all(already 2 days)

The location was very convenient - because we had people coming from Punta Cana and Santo Domingo airport for a family event. The beach was clean, and the pool was very well maintained. Rooms - housekeeping people could do better - sometimes they forgot to map the floor, replace the towels, etc.
