Maribel is super nice and helpful and her dog is adorable. She made me a delicious vegan breakfast upon request and it was mostly local and different every day! The place is very thoughtfully decorated and cozy.

Some electricity sockets in my room were not working. The electrical cords of coffee maker and water cooker in the common lounge area were too short and appliances needed to be placed on the floor somewhere else because they didn't reach the socket in the wall. The socket there needs to be enforced in the wall. In general, I think it's better to have these appliances in each room. For the price of this hostel, I think that would make it just a bit more justified. Wifi wasn't strong enough in my room, unless I left the door open LOL so I just used my Sim. But as the tv didn't make any sense to me as a foreigner, I just used my laptop for online amusement. The windows aren't soundproof, not they need to be, but this is Santo Domingo after all and streets and city life in general are loud. Unclarity whether the breakfast was included or not, after asking the first morning it was yes, didn't need it day 2 and day 3 it was totally ignored. language thingy? or maybe it wasn't included after all. There is no kitchen to use which in my opinion is kind of a necessity for a hostel. This is more like a cross-over between a hotel and hostel concept.

The location is just inside the old colonial wall, everything basically within walking distance. Nice decor in the room and all throughout the hostel. Unique shared seating area/living room with couch&chairs, it's inside but balcony style with breeze from outside coming in. Looking down is the breakfast area. One day I had breakfast and it was delicioso. My room had a very silent airco unit that I ran at night because I had to close the windows due to noise from the street. A great plus is the hot water in the shower. There are 2 shared bathrooms for 4 rooms on the one floor and both were very clean. Luckily because I don't really like shared bathrooms. Locks worked fine everywhere, and gates with locks also give a good feeling of safety. I found out that Good Friday evening and the Saturday morning after are the quietest time of the whole year in the Dominican Republic!! :D The old colonial zone was so peaceful in the morning that I enjoyed it superbly.

Only a couple of small details - some spots that needed cleaning in the bathroom, leaky shower, and outside noise (the latter which no one can really control), but no dealbreakers.

Perfect location in the Zona Colonial near the ocean. Kind staff, clean facilities, delicious breakfast and coffee. Ideal for a quick trip if you are looking for something affordable. Easy parking as well!

It’s neither the most quiet nor the most beautiful street, but well…. all things considered it’s alright for beinf acomodated there.

The owner is extremly friendly and helpfull! The location is alright and just a walk away from the more touristy places of the city. Ans, considering the city’s tropical climate, the AC is really worth the 10 USD extra and makes a difference in comfort.

What a fabulous way to start our time in the DR - not only was the room, shared facilities and location absolutely perfect, but the hospitality of the owner (Maribel) was unbelievable. My mum and I travelled together, and throughout our stay Maribel was friendly, accommodating and so super helpful - loved every interaction!

I arrived at around 3 pm. Door was closed and no one was there. After 20 minutes the owner came by and apologized. Then my room was not ready yet and I had to wait until she cleaned it. (She offered me water and coffee while waiting). The worst thing in my room was the traffic noise. I had a room with windows to the Main Street. Even if the windows are closed, the noise from the cars and trucks is so loud that at 6am my sleeping time was over. Between midnight and 6am I could at least find some sleep.

Room was super clean. Great air condition.

I booked 2 nights. Nobody hosted me when I arrived. Received no information or message from them. This not serious at all. I had to find something else at 11pm and after a long flight with no internet. Had to ask the taxi driver and of course it costed me more money...
