Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesWe booked a room with 2 beds, as we were 2 solo friends traveling together. One was a large decent bed. The other was potentially the most uncomfortable bed I have ever sat on, a tiny pull out in the corner that the fan wouldn't reach. We ended up sleeping in the same bed, as the other would have been horrible.the grounds didn't match the pictures. No chairs by the pool, most were old and had been haphazardly drug out to the beach. The beach was dirty. It wouldn't be hard to clean up but we were there 3 days and it remained the same. The dining was a disaster. One night I ordered only soup and the other only a crepe. Both times it took OVER an hour to get our food, with no updates. The first time we asked about it after 45 minutes thinking maybe they had forgotten us and they said they were busy cause everyone came at once. (There were maybe 5 tables) The second night, there was only one other table, and regardless of if you make everything from scratch, a crepe could never take over an hour. We should have learned and eaten elsewhere. Of course they charged our food to the room, and when we went to pay at checkout they had charged us wrong and we had to argue over what we actually ordered. There are many better places in sosua and cabarete, and for cheaper.
The rooms themselves were very cool. The whole place seemed like it was beautiful and cool 5 years ago, and no one cares anymore. Perhaps it was because the owner was out of town, it felt like those left in charge didn't care for the place.

Everything at Eco Lodge works well. Breakfast is cook to order, The owner and staff are all very helpful arranging Kite lessons or other activities.. There is a convenient italian restaurant within the Perla Marina gated secure area. I stayed extra days at this relaxing, fun resort.

United StatesWifi was very poor/hardly functional, I had to connect to the next door hotel's guest wifi. Taxes were not included in the Booking quote, the final price was 20% more. They should make total fees more obvious upfront or include it in the Booking price. Location was not actually in Cabarete which I didn't realize, but 10-15 min away
Nice room, setting, private beach

SwedenThe restaurant views are amazing, but the food was underwhelming. Go somewhere else for food and come back for drinks at the bar! The facilities are a bit more rustic (as expected from an eco lodge) but we had a fan instead of A/C which made the nights a bit sticky!
The hotel is just beautiful! You can walk out straight into a quiet beach or walk the trails along the coast. There is a surf rental shop/school and cafe about 15 minutes away at Encuentro beach which is fantastic. Easy trip into Cabrete, or make use of the local restaurants in Perla Marina. There are lots of friendly animals (Musha the dog ♥️) and spots to hang out at the hotel. The staff really helped us with our travel options despite the language barrier!

GermanyTo reach Cabarate you need a Taxi or Guagua (it takes about 1hr walking and we are fit - even if the walk is very charming indeed). But therefore you have a very quiet space Host talked to us but obviously was not interested in any feedback, sadly.
Delicious, fresh made breakfast (havent tried other food), lovely room as it is presented on pictures, less crowdy than Cabarete main beach, clean, staff friendly

CanadaCool water in shower, broken screen although I did not tell the manager, so maybe they would have fixed it! Ordering food is a bit of a wait but just plan for it before you are too hungry. Worth the wait!
The breakfast was very good and a great selection of food. The cooks were very accommodating and lovely people. There are large containers of safe water to fill up water bottles. This resort was careful to wash lettus and fresh fruit with bottled water. I would still be careful not to eat lettuce ie salads. My friend and i both got sick, not sure what from. May not be from the food at this resort. Bring along some imodium or medication for this type of thing, it is very common even when you are careful. The cuisine is amazing and very fresh. Fruit is beyond amazing in taste so you might want to over indulge, thus stomach upset. The vistas are also amazing.

United StatesNot necessarily disliked, but consider families and children staying there if that's not your vibe.
This was a very unique hotel with open-air treehouse rooms. The beachfront location was also amazing! It was one of the coolest places I have personally stayed at. The location is about a 10-minute drive from the main part of Cabarete and about 45 min from Puerto Plata. Compared to other local places, it is a little pricey including the on-site restaurants but I'd say it's worth it.

PolandWe stayed for 2 weeks so had time to observe how this resort operates. First of all, don’t count on manager of the resort, she is passive, stays in her office and focuses on her phone rather than on customers. Expect cold water or no water in the shower. The front door to our room wasn’t easy to open, you leave kids inside that can open the door without assistance of parents. To be fair staff they proposed another room three days before our leaving but we decided not to waist our time to change the room. On booking confirmation we were informed that we can pay by card, but we couldn’t as staff did not allow this option, we had make a bank transfer and swallow extra cost for the transfer.
Location and beautiful beaches around. Walking distance to the surf beach. Very nice ladies who were preparing delicious breakfasts.

DenmarkFirst i got granted a completely different room. I has to emphasise how I booked a different one, until they gave me the standard that I booked. Sometimes no water in the cabin. Sometimes a bit loud music for the beautiful environment. The manager was not being nice at all and made me feel unwelcome. I only felt welcome thanks to all the other staff who were amazing.
Most of the staff is very nice. I was aloud to use the kitchen too, which was great. Location is lovely and very quiet. The place is overall nice with several facilities. Breakfast is ok. For the price you'd expect a bit more, but omelets, yoghurt and fruit is available and sufficiently satisfying. Not a lot of options or variety.
