Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FinlandWifi should work better. Low pressure in shower and bathroom could be cleaner.
We spent lovely week here with my wife. When we arrived Jackson was welcoming us with the sign in the port. Jackson and other people made us feel very comfortable. Jackson arranged trips (Isla Tortuga and Los Tuneles) for us with cheaper price than you can get by walking around and negotiating it by yourself. Breakfast was good and last morning they even prepared it for us at 4:30 am because we had early ferry to Santa Cruz. We caught tuna at Isla Tortuga trip and Jackson and his wife (?) cooked it for us at the same day and we had very delicious dinner together. Thank you for everything! 😊

Everything! Jackson, the host, is amazing and incredibly friendly. He picked us up at the Harbour and then gave us a tour of the area and showed us the best spots for dinner, sunset and stores. He helped us organize everything we needed (tours, bikes,…) during our time quickly and very cheap. The hotel itself is very cute, super clean and lies perfectly in a quiet neighborhood which is close to the city center. Jackson and his wife made us wonderful breakfast and welcomed us with open arms. I cannot recommend this place enough :) Thank you for everything!

Warm welcome by the owner at the ferry arrival. He is very thoughtful and made us feel very comfortable during our stay. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Breakfast was good and we could choose when to eat. Owner arranged tours, bike rentals and laundry for us. We're very thankful for everything!

The greatest thing by no doubt was the hospitality of the owner! Señor Jackson came to pick us up at the port for free and showed us around in town after we checked in. He was very willing to help us with anything. Furthermore the breakfast was good and the room was fine.

ColombiaJackson and Amelia are excellent hosts. They guide you with everything during all your stay. Jackson has special prices of excursions on Isabela. First of all, he awaits you at the pier with a sign with your name on it, something I was not expecting at all. They receive your with a coffee or tea and after leaving your stuff in the room, Jackson shows you around the Puerto Villamil. The room had all the commodities : shower with hot water, air conditioning, tv and a lot of space in the room. The WiFi worked doing its best, although on the whole island the signal is weak. Enough to check the mails and social media as well as making some phone calls (I even had a 2-hours video call).

Switzerlandit was not quite what we expected, as the pictures of the hostel and the description were maybe a bit misleading, the hostel is still very much under construction, which we didn’t realise. Also, the surrounding area was a little run down and out of the centre of town. However, we had an amazing time here as Jackson and his wife Amelia were the most warm hearted and welcoming hosts we could have hoped for. they really went out of their way to accommodate our every wish.
very clean rooms, extremely helpful staff, nice breakfast and very good value for money. Jackson, the host came to pick us up at the ferry which was a lovely surprise and even gave us a tour of the town and offered us tea and coffee when we arrived. he organised all the tours for us as well, and at better rates than if you go into the tour operator offices. he was always kind and helpful with anything that we needed and he would go out of his way to help us.
