How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The area is horrible. Very very sketchy at night. Even sometimes during the day.

One night it was a bit annoying the music was not turned off until late. However, the name of the hostel is pretty telling - ¨party hostel¨ so that is pretty much on me,
A cool spot that is close to everything in Baños. The staff were friendly and efficient. For example, the owner Quentin, was kind in moving the router closer to my room so that I could work well during the day. Otherwise, the staff were helpful in sharing tips of things to do around Baños.

Minor things : floor was sticky in my room, room had weird smell (lack of fresh air), was noisy at night (as expected).
Good staff and location. Excellent value. Good beer at the bar.

The room was a bit humid.
Hard to beat for the price if you don't mind the music at night. The lady at the reception was very nice and helpful. Wi-Fi worked well. Overall it was better than expected.

On the other hand, by having a pub so close to the rooms, it was a bit noisy, as the music goes on around 1am. So, if you are looking for some quiet place to relax during the night, I wouldnt recommend it.
Very good location and price for money. The vibe is cool and the pub just downstairs have good beers and food.

it was very loud in the night (til 2pm party) and the toilet paper was outside of the bathroom.

The rooms overlook the bar and it gets extremely noisy from 5pm to midnight with loud music. While it is cool it was tiring when getting up early for sports activities. Kitchen is not well equipped and doesn't have cups, glasses or spoons.
Although they were sometimes difficult to find (early mornings or evenings), staff was ery friendly and helpful. Daniel gave me helpful recommendations as soon as I arrived. The girl was also very friendly and very fair with the price. I think they gave me a better room since the hostel was not bush bug they charged me the lower price as per my reservation on Booking. Clean bathroom, although hot water was challenging, even turning it out slowly.

Don't underestimate the "Party Hostel" part, loud music will be played until late at night ...even when there is no real party lol. It s mostly for the few people chilling downstairs with a drink. I think during quiet days they could easily turn it down a bit

If you plan on sleeping before 2-3 pm, this is NOT the place for you. It feels like sleeping in a club

Showers weren't working at all during our stay. Staff didn't care, pretended it was a problem throughout Banos. Basic accommodation, no atmosphere in the hostel

The staff were so friendly and helped us with any information we needed. The hostel's location is the best (in the main street, surrounded by restaurants, bars and clubs). In addition the facilities are great, the rooms are clean and comfortable and the atmosphere is at top. We will definitely come back one day!
