Everything is fine except the noise at night. I am a deep sleeper so wasn’t an issue.

Room was just a basic white room. Needed a bit of personal touch. The area was very lively and loud music till 4am from the clubs and the windows were not double glazed so could hear this very clearly. But if you like nightlife then this is the place to be.

The place is basic but great value for money. It is near many resturants and nightclubs and a short walk from the historic centre. The staff were lovely and couldn’t do enough to help. Safe parking for my motorcycle was important and they provided this for me.

Like many hostels it is loud. The trade off is always location and price versus quiet location. Get your ear plugs when you travel and you’ll sleep. My bathroom drain smelled a bit so I bought bleach and kept it fresh.

Location is excellent. Price with breakfast is very good value. No one should complain. Staff goes out of their way to be helpful and friendly. Had good hot water. The blinds reduce light very well.

Previous glowing reviews were very mis-leading. It was quite obvious that nothing had been done to the building and reception area for years. The public areas were not only very shabby and neglected but had not been given a good clean in a very long time. The website at the time I booked was totally misleading but I understand that the new owners are updating the website and making some changes or improvements to the facilities. Indeed the reception area was marginally improved during my short stay. I had a single room with a bed, a table, and a stool. There were 3 or 4 hooks in random places on the walls but no storage for even a minimum amount of 'stuff'.

The building is in a fantastic location just a few blocks from the historic centre. My room and bathroom were clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. The bed was good snd I slept well. I understand that changes and improvements are being made to the hostel and I hope that my 'dislikes' will become irrelevant in the near future.

The hotel is much shabbier than the pictures would suggest. Quality of the wifi depends on where the room is located. The site pictures show a restaurant and kitchen facilities for guests, but no meals and the kitchen wasn't very good. Rooms facing the street could get very noisy on weekends with lots of bars and clubs in the area open until 4:00 am.

The hotel is in a good location and the staff were friendly. The price was low.

I am not sure if me and those who have posted the string of recent ‘exceptional’ reviews were staying in the same place? Unfortunately, the hostel needs a lot of attention and I’ve no doubt you can get far better for your money elsewhere in Cuenca. I could have gotten over the state of the place if it was at least half the price. My rate didn’t include breakfast and when I double checked I was not informed of there being an option to buy the ‘continental breakfast’ as described. I certainly did not see any restaurant on site as described but I would not have eaten there anywhere. I did not see another backpacker staying here. There appears to be a family/families residing there as evidenced by kids returning in school uniforms and their possessions being in the common area/kitchen. I am not sure if they are related to the owner. One such possession was a piano and one of the girls had her piano lessons in there, and one of her relatives felt it appropriate to play the piano at silly o’clock at night. They, and most other guests, also treated the place like their own home, blasting out music/TV and shouting one another down the corridor. The rooms are most definitely NOT soundproof as listed in the description on booking.com. The windows need replacing too. Mine did not close so rattled a lot. The kitchen was in desperate need of a deep clean and some care. Along with the corridor it looked like a dumping ground. My room was clean but my sheets were not. These evidently hadn’t been changed since the last guest. I slept in my own sleeping bag. I opted for this room as the first one I looked at stunk of blocked drains. The Wi-Fi only worked behind the door, enter the room any further and it dropped out. The shower was hot - fortunately I noticed the ‘hot’ and ‘cold’ taps were fitted the wrong way round before having a few days of cold showers! There was a lot of mould in the bathroom.

The hostel is in a really good location; close to the centre as well as museums, bars and restaurants. staff appeared friendly and helpful, although admittedly I do not speak Spanish so it was not easy to converse. Nor did they speak English as described in Booking.coms description.

The bathroom definitely needed more attention. Wi-Fi not reliable for a Zoom-call.

Upon request, staff asked other guests to turn off loud music in the night. Early check-in was definitely a plus. Food at the restaurant next door was superb. Short walking distance to the river & nightlife alternatives.

The people at the receptionist were nice,but at first the could not find my reservation. I had to show them on my phone, The girl at the counter could not make change . My total was $ 17.24 i gave her $20 .25 and she would not accept the quarter , and give me $3.01 back .Finally I gave her $20 and she used the calculator to calculate the correct change . I have lived and traveled though out Ecuador ,this is a common theme .Thee rule of thumb is to have exact change, this is why i like to use airbnb or hotels that accept credit cards . There was no hot water and it was freezing in my room. I asked for breakfast earlier and the guy at the front desk said it was too early i had to wait until 8:30 am.
