When your room is located at the courtyard, it's hard to sleep early when there is live music (usually during the weekend).

Room was a little noisy. The bar is very popular with locals and tourists and has live music at weekends and cocktails hours. Can be quite noisy untill 11 pm so fine for adults but maybe not for young children. Not sure if it possible to get quieter rooms away from bar area.

I guess if I have to put something here it's that the showers take forever to get hot. But that's a problem all over ecuador, so I can't really hold it against them.

Reception is sometimes without attention. It's basically okay, but room keys are not completely hidden.

Nice place, very spacious with a very nice patio and a quite good restaurant. Would go there again. Ask for a quiet room if you prefer.

The rooms were really dark in the day, the shared area was not good to meet people, the bathroom for women didn’t lock and often ran out of paper.

The staff was really friendly and helpful, and it was really close to the historical centre of Cuenca!

I assumed that a 'hostel' is traveller-friendly but this was more like a hotel with dorm options. Staff were friendly but didn't make any effort to tell me about what to see in Cuenca or getting to/from Cajas or Ingapirca. I was disappointed to realize that the kitchen was only for the expensive restaurant and there wasn't so much as a microwave, knife and cutting board or hot water on offer to prepare simple meals.

Beautiful old building remodeled and converted into a hostel in a very central part of downtown Cuenca. Spacious dorm room and medium sized lockers a plus.

There is a restaurant inside the hostel. it really felt like the restaurant was the priority and the bedrooms were an extra. There was live music/ stand up comedy on every night I was there, it was so loud and when it went on past the advertised time and I complained, I was made to feel like I was being boring/ unreasonable. guests should be able to rest at any time in their rooms and not depending on the schedule of events at the restaurant. if I had known about these events, I wouldn’t have booked. I wouldn’t stay again.

It's a bit noisy from the street. The shower wasn't great. Not so easy to meet other travellers here. No breakfast included.

For budget conscious travellers it is worth knowing that there is nowhere to prepare your own food or hot drinks. Drinks making facilities or a discount on the coffee in the bistro for guests would have been welcome! I am sure I could have had hot water for tea if I had asked however.

I love staying at Yakumama, it has become my go to place when staying in Cuenca. The courtyard and bistro areas are beautiful, the beds are comfortable and the interactions with the staff help me feel at home. I enjoy staying in the rooms on the ground floor off the courtyard for ambience and access to WiFi. The food in the bistro is exceptional. Everything I’ve had off the menu has been beautiful and delicious, and the wine is better than any I’ve had in Cuenca. The breakfasts cost the same as other tourist type places, but the quality is better than anywhere else I tried by far - amongst the best breakfasts I ever had to be fair!
