How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

My stay at the hostel revolution Quito was amazing. The hostel is really great to meet fellow travelers, the rooms are comfortable, there's a lot of dvds at our disposal, the staff is super friendly, helpful and warm, and the hot showers were a game changer. I really recommend choosing this hostel, especially as Sandra is especially warm, full of advices and stories, and has a funny word for everyone.

When I first arrived in Ecuador (Quito) this place felt like a home. It's not a party Hostel for sure and that's what I most liked about it. You get some rest there. Nice breakfast, fast internet, clean, comfy beds and helpful advice from the owner. I was there two times and maybe I'll go back for a third time, who knows:).

We liked the hostel very much. The owner Sandra and the volunteers were really nice, the common areas were very clean and the shower had reliable hot water. The breakfast was delicious and you could always take tea, coffee and filtered water. Really recommended, we came back here every time we had a stopover in Quito :)

This was the second time we stayed at the hostel during our month in Ecuador, as we loved it so much the first time! We arrived really early (7am) and Sandra was there to greet us and actually let us check-in early. The next day day we also had to wait around a lot for a night bus to the Amazon after check-out, and we were able to hang out in the common area, rather than wandering around the city - really grateful for that. It feels like a little family/community when you stay here, nothing is ever too much trouble. It's also one of the very few hostels where I don't want to get out of bed in the morning, the beds are so so comfortable - I woke up in the morning thinking I was in my bed at home! Thanks again! :)

Some hooks for hanging clothes and a mirror in the dorm room would be useful.
Sandra's facilities and hospitality were great. A nutritious breakfast was served each morning. There was lots of opportunity to interact with other guests

Very welcoming and warm staff... I loved the place, it's so beautiful and warm, I would have loved to stay longer. The terrace is great and it's ideally located, close to everything.

Amazing! The owner is super nice and very informative about things to do in Quito, safety & any other recommendations/advice. Probably one of the comfiest beds and best sleeps we've had whilst travelling! The rooms are really clean and spacious (we had a private room but the dorms also looked really big), hot showers and an amazing terrace overlooking the city. Breakfast was fantastic too. 100% recommend, we'll be booking this place whenever we are in Quito!

Nothing, everything was perfect!
A great hostel in the perfect location. Nearby bus stops will take you across the city and beyond! Staff were friendly during my stay but credit to the wonderful owner, Sandra who will go above and beyond to help with pretty much anything, she has some great knowledge of the city! Dorm rooms are a good size and the beds are very comfortable. I must mention the WIFI which was good throughout the indoors, you really cannot complain about the speed! Finally to top it all off you get a brilliant breakfast thrown in, honestly what more do you want from a hostel at this price?

Lovely hostel with a comfy vibe. Comfortably beds, well equipped kitchen, good breakfast, fast internet, clean facilities and beautiful rooftop. Quiet neighborhood, close to important amenities and all the sights. The host is lovely and always willing to help or provide information.

Sandra, the host, and the rest of the staff were incredibly helpful with information regarding buses throughout Quito, and the best places to eat. A fantastically clean hostel, with a well equipped kitchen. The wifi was great, and was able to access it at all times, even on the rooftop.

Very cosy hostel close to the city center. You instantly get a familiar feeling when you walk in, especially because the owner cares very much about you and your safety. The facilities were very clean and the beds are very nice to have a long sleep. Definitely recommend this hostel!

Amazing atmosphere, people and facilities. Comfortable bed, warm showers and safe environment, lockers in all rooms and tv/drinks everything you need especially as solo traveller with little Spanish. Host helps you with everything you need like day tours etc
