Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNothing. It suited as very well.
This is a family run hotel. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Needed google translate at times as my Spanish is not that great and not all of the staff spoke English. But we had no problems at all. Breakfast was great and they were quite flexible with our timings. The art work and decor in the hotel was really wonderful and Ecuadorian. We left bags here while we traveled out of Quito and there was no problems with securing them again. Yes I would recommend this hotel. The Jacuzzi in our bathroom was an added bonus.

The rooms we had were both clean, tidy and welcoming. Great location for the old town, park and market. I would recommend this hotel and the lovely staff.

United KingdomFinding restaurants to eat at night was a bit difficult and we have absolutely no idea if Quito geography which feels pretty difficult. The guys were excellent in sorting out what would have been an issue with the parking for us. Front bedrooms are noisy as are into the street and it is an old building BUT we had two great nights sleep. Might be difficult for people with accessibility issues.
Probably the best room we have stayed in on our three and a half month travels. All new, super comfortable and a great shower with lashings of hot water. Breakfast was OK and hotel was excellent value for money. Great coffee.!

United StatesMy room was street side - very noisy with lots of traffic except during curfew. But city is big so noise to be expected. Request room in back. My bed grunted and groaned every time I moved. In bathroom - only one hook on back of door. Would be nice to have more hooks and bars to hang things.
Large room with lots of storage. Nice modern bathroom with hot water. Location across from nice, large El Ejido park and close to La Mariscal Artisan Market. Outlets by bed. Breakfast was fresh fruit, large croissant and eggs prepared after you arrived so delivered hot, served restaurant style, not buffet. Súper nice, friendly and helpful staff, very inclusive. Airport pick up was great after a long travel day. Appreciated secured entrance.

United StatesIt was very cold at night in the room. Just more options for heat at night.
This was the cutiest boutique hotel. Elizabeth and her staff were amazing and extremely friendly and attentive. Issac made some delicious items for us for breakfast, and they even made me a birthday lunch and had people come over to celebrate my birthday as well. The art decor was a beautiful touch as well. One night, we came back from Banos pretty late and they made sure to wait up for us to get in. I appreciate everything you did for us. I'd love to return and stay here again.

United StatesMy poor spanish skills.
There is a lot to like with this hotel. The location put you within walking distance to many sites. Breakfast was cooked to order and was delicious. The staff constantly made sure that you had what you needed. At one point my wife had an upset stomach and the staff was quick in making sure she was treated. They went as far as going out and getting her chicken soup. John and Elizabeth were awesome hosts and made the stay memorable. I recommend you have them take you on their tours. Their tours are customized for you. I highly recommend this hotel. "Mi hermana esta en la cocina"..."Cuy y Biscocho!!!"

EcuadorThere was a little misunderstanding about the room, which was solved efficiently and in a kind way, by giving us an upgrade. Nothing else really.
Breakfast was very good, and we received a warm welcome, which is a valuable bonus. There is ample parking space, so we didn't have to worry about our car during the night.

United StatesIt was not the hotels fault, but construction was happening outside on the street which made it quite noisy since our room was at ground level.
The room was very nice. very interesting design with the bathroom and jacuzzi below you. The staff was very nice and friendly and the owner ALWAYS made sure we had everything we needed. we booked several tours and transfers with them and everything was superb! Breakfast was very filling and cooked on the spot (not buffet). Don’t know the layout of Quito to know if it was a good location, but there was a beautiful, safe park directly across the street and many restaurants within a 5 minute walk.

United StatesThe rooms facing the street are incredibly noisy. I asked for a room change, which was no problem. I then slept like a baby. Also would be nice to have drinking water in the room. There is hot water and drinking water in the cafeteria and it's also an excellent spot to get some work done if you're so inclined.
All of the staff was great; they were both attentive and inviting. I feel like I made friends, which is the whole point of traveling. The bed was comfortable, and the space was adequate. Breakfast was outstanding, with juice, a fruit plate, eggs, and bread. The artisanal market and several museums and parks are nearby.

Exceptional and very helpful staff. They helped with my bags, kept them after I left, offered free tea and coffee all day, nice breakfast. They ordered dinner for me and set it up in their dishes in the dining room. It was cheap and really great. United StatesThe rooms are small and have no view (we saw the view from several different rooms). The breakfast is really not great. More importantly, though, the hotel is in a location which is a 15-minute walk from literally any restaurant, and in Quito, you shouldn't/can't walk 15 minutes in most directions after dark. They also told us they only accept cash (or charge a 10% fee if using any other means), because it's "a national issue", but this is NOT TRUE - many hotels we stayed in after this accepted cards (as do many other places of business) - we didn't know because this was our first stop, but if you are going to charge $60 a night, you are not a "discount accommodation" in a country where many places charge less than half of that, so accept various forms of payment and be professional about it.
Staff were very friendly and helpful regarding questions about what to do in Quito and around the country
