Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandA bit noisy by the cars on the street.
Very nice little hotel in a good location. You are very central and most of the sightseeing can be done by walking. The host are amazing. We loved the Andean spirit of the hotel. Ivonne and her husband are so welcoming and so nice. All the other staff was also very friendly and helpful. Thank you!

United KingdomNothing was great!
The property was traditional which I loved very spiritual. Had lots of options for tea and coffee throughout the day and the breakfast was delicious. There are games and a lovely roof top if you wanted to take a break from the city. The best thing about the hotel is the staff, Awki was such a help and really made sure we had an enjoyable stay. Would defo come back if I was in Quito!

United StatesNothing!
The loveliest hotel staff I've ever met. Auki was incredibly friendly and helpful. We had to leave at 5:00 AM and he packed up a breakfast for us to take with us to their airport. The rooms are extremely comfortable and very stylishly done. Extremely tasteful decoration in keeping with the Chakana theme. The hotel's restaurant is also amazing--meals there are not to be missed.

GermanyWe ate at their restaurant twice as well. First time was one of the best dinners in Ecuador, second time was pretty disappointing.
Very warm welcome: We were offered some tea, shown around etc. We actually stayed here twice as the owners were nice enough to store the bits of our luggage that we didn't need (diving equipment). They are really helpful and their attention to detail is great.

Czech RepublicThe windows are not double glazed, so the room was noisy during the night, and the next-door neighbours will be right on top of you, which is nevertheless rather common in Quito. You may be able to avoid the latter issue by pulling the curtains, but not the former.
This family-run, boutique hotel is located in a safe area, Las Alamedas, a stone's throw away from the Basilica and in walking distance from the city centre. Awki was super helpful, both as concierge and when serving breakfast, which includes parfait, fruit juice and eggs with a croissant, in just the right amount, thereby enabling you to avoid overeating. In other words, the breakfast is prepared as soon as you sit down and includes portions fit for a European, but not for an American. The hotel has four levels reflecting the Chakana culture. In one of the levels, you can sit down, enjoy some complimentary tea or coffee and fresh fruit. Overall, our stay at this hotel was quite enjoyable.

CanadaThe street noises outside were a bit loud but it didn’t bother us much and it was to be expected given the location. There are rooms that are more quiet and the staff was nice enough to offer those to us when we arrived.
The hotel was very nice, it had a great authentic feel to it honoring the indigenous community of the area which was very cool. The staff was exceptionally nice and the location was very central. The breakfast in the morning was delicious and we felt very safe and well taken care of.

United StatesAs other reviewers have mentioned, there's no air conditioner and our room got too warm at the end of the day. Heat is one of the things that really impact my sleep. They did provide a small electric fan that helped. Our room, called Pastor, was on the second floor and had windows and a private balcony that opened to the common area below, with no connection to the outside of the building. On one hand, we were not bothered by any street noise, but on the other hand, we could hear everything happening in the common area or the preparations for breakast. Luckily, guests were very respectful and there was never noise after 10 am. Additionally we are early birds so waking up at 6:30 with the breakfast preparations did not bother us. I recommend eye mask and ear plugs if you are a light sleeper.
The facilities are very nice with great decor. Awki provided us with impecable service. We needed parking which eas provided for free at a very short walk from the hotel. Each room is named after a Ecuadorian ancient culture and decorated accordingly. There's only a few rooms, a very nice common area with complimentary tea, coffee, water and even a couple bottles of wine, and a common terrace on the top of the building. The breakfast is simple but good and the small restaurant served a modern take on Ecuadorian food, with very interesting flavors.
