Toiletts got clogged and shower wasn't that warm.

Staff was really nice. You could take plants and herbs from their garden.

Bathrooms weren’t very clean and frequently out of toilet paper.

Nice place to stay and they worked with me when I had an issue with my reservation. The common areas were great and the location to the main plaza was ideal.

Not enough toilets, it's really annoying + times of reception closure (3-7am) since it's very oldschool solution in hostels (you don't have a key so cannot enter after 3 am unless you get a deal with staff for additional fee). Also only one of the staff members fluently speaks English, i believe this is a must in such places.

It's a cool hostel, really cozy, with good and polite staff members. Enjoyed my stay!!!

the reception hours are 7-3 and they lock the door outside of those so you have to go find someone to unlock it for you. The water in the shower was either boiling hot or freezing as well

Great location, friendly staff, rooms had big lockers

A slight nuisance is that the front door is generally bolted closed and so you have to find a staff member to let you out or wait to come in. One female staff member at reception seems more interested in her phone than the guests!

Clean rooms, clean and spacious bathrooms with hot water, strong WiFi. Well equipped kitchen and good location offering good value.

I didn’t bother me at all but for others it might, the is no curtain around the bunk bed or the single beds I. The dorm and it is a old house with wooden floor which is noisy when people walk but again, I didn’t care at all.

The location only 2 blocks away from the Parque Calderon, 10min street car ride from the bus station, the kitchen well equipped (a lot of dishes, pots, pans, coffee maker, kettle, blinder), big room with big lockers, very nice and helpful staffs.

A little noisy at times, but it did not stop us from sleeping :)

Perfect location, few minutes walk from the centre and about 15 min walk to Pumapungo archeological park. Everything you need is nearby, good restaurants and shops, and a huge market a couple of blocks away. The staff were very friendly and accommodating - we had to wait in the city a long time for a night bus to Peru, and the staff allowed us to stay in the hostel and relax in the common areas, really kind! It felt very secure, they lock the front door at 11pm. Great kitchen for cooking your own food too. Even though it is a little cold in Cuenca at night, there are enough blankets on the beds.

What a weird organisation… The hostel is quite nice, the rooms are confortable and the location is great. But it can be very noisy if your room is close to the bathrooms. However the entrance door… you’re not allowed to keep the keys when you go out. Which means you have to be lucky enough that the receptionist is not taking a pee or wandering around the place, or you’ll have to wait until he notices someone’s at the door. And let’s talk about the checkout… once you’ll be done packing, they lock you in like a criminal until they’ve « checked » your room. I’ve never seen such a thing in my entire life and I’m pretty sure it is illegal. So it is a rather nice place but don’t expect too much.

    Mochiliers Hostel: Where Chaos Rules
    • Leisure trip

    • Single Bed in Dormitory Room

Welcome to Mochiliers Hostel, where keys are just for show. Don't count on getting inside easily, though. Even with someone at reception, you might find yourself stuck outside for what feels like forever, waiting for the door to open. Once you're in, get ready for noise. The wooden floors are so loud, you'll think there's a marching band in the hallway. And forget about sleeping in – the party doesn't stop until dawn, and the early birds start chirping at 5 AM. The kitchen and bathroom have seen better days, with mold making itself at home on the walls and ceilings. And if you're brave enough to shower, get ready for a shock – the water's colder than the Arctic. But the real adventure? Those bunk beds without guardrails. Just hope you don't fall off, and good luck trying to explain your frustrations to the cleaning lady, who couldn't care less. And let's not forget the potential disaster of not having a key. Imagine if there's a fire and you can't get out because you're locked in. It's a nightmare scenario made worse by the hostel's lackadaisical attitude. In short, Mochiliers Hostel is more than just a place to crash – it's a wild ride through chaos and confusion. Hold on tight, folks.

They crammed everyone into one dorm rather than using the empty dorms that were available. I was shoved in a dorm with 5 males when the two dorms next door were both empty. I don’t mind mixed dorms but it didn’t make sense to me! I would have thought it would be better to make people feel comfortable?!?!?

    The location was great
