Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere is a hob but no oven or toaster, other than this the kitchen was well equipped. Some areas of Guayaquil aren't too welcoming for tourists, so be sure to check before exploring.
Great communication, great response on whatsapp, even when called at 0630 in the morning as we had issues leaving the keys in the lock safe provided and doors, but were very helpful and sorted it all out in time. A member of staff Hector stayed up to help us up at midnight, he was very thorough and give us a detailed tour, he was very helpful and very kind. The flat has a lot of amenities including laundry and drier, wifi is fast and a netflix account too. Shower just ok, soap/shampoo etc provided. There is a daywatch-person outside the front (common for Guayaquil), this was nice, and the property felt safe and secure.

TaiwanLittle noise outside the street although it was at high level. But quiet during midnight
Spacious room, with free washing machine and dryer to use. You can call the owner to take password of the lock, that means you need to have either local phone number or internet to call.

CanadaThe noise. Although we were on the 8th floor the noise from the vehicles and trucks (constantly beeping their horns) was maddening. Also there were appliance stores below with huge booming speakers competing with each other as to who could play their music louder to attract customers.
The kitchen was well equipped, the shower was hot, the washer and dryer worked as did the air conditioner in the bedroom. It was great to stand on the balcony and view the sights. We were greeted by a friendly, helpful young lady who explained everything about the apartment to us when we arrived. When we left, a friendly young man helped us get a cab to the terminal. The location is perfect with a large grocery store right across the street and tons of restaurants within walking distance. You can't get more central than Centro

United StatesI did not get the apartment I booked because the owner pulled a "bait-and-switch." My confirmation said that the apartment was 969 sq ft/90 sq meters. It was less than a THIRD of that size. The rep who met me at the apartment said that the owner has 3 apartments in the building that are 3 different sizes and 3 different prices. They are all included in one listing. I asked him how a customer knows which of the 3 they are getting if they are all lumped together in one listing. He said that it was based on "availability." In other words, even though my confirmation was for the 969 sq ft apartment, I would get it only if it was available. I asked for a price reduction since the apartment was so small, but the owner adamantly refused. I asked if I could move to the 969 sq ft apartment, but the rep said that it was occupied for the next 3 days. The owner told me that if I didn't like the apartment, I could cancel and leave. This is extremely poor customer service. The owner knows that most travelers do not want to scramble around trying to find a place to stay at the last minute. So like me, most will stay. In retrospect, I should have walked out. The owner should be required to list each apartment separately, with dimensions and prices clearly delineated. His current practice is very deceptive. The bathroom was so small that when I sat down I had to turn sideways to keep my legs from hitting the wall in front of me -- and I'm only 5'2"/1.57 m. The bedroom was cramped and uncomfortable with 2 bunk beds and a double bed. No nightstands or bedside tables. It had a TV. The living room area was simply a small gray sofa that faced a blank wall. No TV, coffee table, end tables, or lamps. The kitchen did not have a coffee maker, tea kettle, toaster, or oven. If you actually receive the 969 sq ft apartment, it might be worth it. The small apartment I received was a rip-off.
It was spotlessly clean, and right on Avenida 9 de Octubre, which is a busy vibrant street in the heart of downtown. It is less than a 10" minute walk from the Malecon 2000. The apartment was in the back of the building, so there was almost no street noise.

United Kingdom- on quite a noisy street which made it harder to sleep - mixed up communication with owners about change in booking and room available - if you are only staying for one night to go to Galapagos you would be better staying right next to airport
- clean apartment with cooking facilities if you wanted to use
