Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaThe amenities were slightly outdated, but everything was functional, which wasn't much of an issue since I spent most of my day exploring on foot. The breakfast was alright, the pieces of defrosted cheese were unfortunately spoiled, I just skipped eaten them as the pastries, fruit, fresh juice, and scrambled eggs were more than enough to fill me up for the morning. Friendly suggestion to keep your curtain blinds closed. On multiple occasions, I noticed folks from the building across the street taking photos and staring into the room, it was every so creepy.
This hostel boasts a prime location right in front of the Malecon. Guests receive their own set of keys and a fob for elevator access, entry into the premises, and their room. The common areas are spacious and well-lit. My room was equipped with a television, storage space, water, a fully stocked kitchenette, and a bathroom. The hosts were easily reachable via WhatsApp. Although they advised against interacting with the lobby receptionists, I found them to be very friendly and helpful whenever I needed to sign in upon arrival or came in and out of the building. The hostel is conveniently situated within walking distance of an aerovia station, empanada spots, the cacao museum, the artisanal market, and T.T. Okey for delicious chaulafan. Plus, Netflix is available on the television for your downtime, and you're less than a 10 minute uber from the airport.

Handy location for the Malecón. If you're worried about safety sticking close to the Malecón is a pretty safe bet. Nothing too far. Nice balcony space to sit outside. Coffee and tea available. Various snacks and drinks can be purchased (honesty box,) Getting in and out not complicated at all..

EcuadorI did not like that the staff was a little bit suspicious about us and they wanted to check by whatsapp messages about us instead of opening the door and chat with us in the common room.
I love the location, the room and the terrace with the view of the city and the security to enter the building. Also, I love the fact that is not very visible for the public so Its discreet

United StatesSuper noisy at night. Not even earplugs stopped the sounds of groups of dogs barking all night. Not the hotels fault, but it’s difficult to sleep with dogs that loud.
Very cute, cheap, good location.

GreeceI would like more variety in the breakfast.
The location was perfect and I feel really secure at night, there is a security guy in the central door. The bed was very comfortable. Air-condition and wifi were working perfectly. The common areas are well designed and it's nice that there is potable water to refil your bottle. Also they respond really fast and they were very helpful.

SwitzerlandIt was a little complicated to get into the property but the host is very responsive on WhatsApp. We were a little unfortunate, because when we arrived the power of the building was off for one or two hours.
The property has a great style, is very clean, friendly and also welcoming decorated. The WIFI works very very well, compared to all other properties we stayed - in Ecuador as well as Galapagos. Breakfast was delicious 😋

AustriaFor people with light sleep, unfortunately there is quite heavy noise from the streets starting early morning. During the night it's quiet. Anyway, the hotel is providing ear plugs.
The hotel is located in a great area directly next to the river. The area is touristic and more or less safe as there are a lot of security guards. There are plenty of nice cafés and restaurants close. The room was very clean and spacious. The included breakfast is phantastic and comes with eggs, bread, fresh fruits, juice and coffee.

United KingdomThere is no hot water in the bathroom, and I have to take a cold shower all the time. I tried both tap and wait for such a long time, it is always cold. There is no modern air-conditioning in the apartment, all we have is a very old style air fan which blows cold air inside of the room. But this device is very noisy and I have some problems sleeping. Breakfast is included only after 7-7.30am.
Great location next to the sea and beach, very nice and safe to walk at night as well. The check in process is smooth and the owner is very helpful. WiFi is good, the apartment is beautiful, the gate is secure as well.
