Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New Zealandthere is a club opposite and it was so loud until 2/3am we stayed Wednesday to Sunday and it was every night. our room faced the street so it was a big problem for us I would suggest requesting a back facing room. We booked a straight nights but the staff found it difficult to arrange this and kept asking us to come back and pay every time we did (3 times) they said they couldn’t take the money as it wasn’t finalised, it was very frustrating as we kept trying to pay then when we did we waited 30 mins for them doing the computer side of things. checked out the next day and they said we hadn’t paid….it’s not malicious or deliberate just not good organisers/communicators.
so much to do as they have activities and their own cafe which was great to not have to look for a coffee shop each morning.

United KingdomIt’s about a 10/15 min Uber into the Old Town.
Basic room with comfy bed and bedding. Shared bathroom was clean and the shower good with hot water and the towels were large. Breakfast was good with a few options offered. Travel company within the hostel which we used and would recommend. There were social activities but I wouldn’t necessarily say it was a social social hostel. Room was quiet and having a lift was useful for luggage. Staff friendly on reception. Supermarket and ATMs nearby.

United StatesBreakfast was supposed to start at 7:30 but started closer to 8 since chef wasn’t there. My granola and yogurt bowl was fine but not great. The juice was very sweet which after a week of great natural sugarless juice in Ecuador caught me off guard but is probably closer to a “standard” juice flavor in the USA. Coffee was ok which considering how good it is elsewhere in Ecuador was surprising. The cookie with breakfast I bought tasted like it had been sitting there a few days. Basically the only negative was an underwhelming breakfast.
Room and bathroom were great. Very central location near a lot of nightlife and easy access to everything else. Selina facilities were also really nice overall. AC kept room at a good temperature. They allowed me to store my luggage after my stay for an additional 12+ hours before my flight for free. Staff were helpful when I had questions and were patient with me and my limited Spanish.

United StatesThe room was a little dirty. Bedding had a stain on it and the bathroom smelled like rotten eggs. When we showered, water spread all over the bathroom floor, and the water didn't very hot. For the price, we were fine with these things but figured other travelers might want to know. Also, the additional price for breakfast is a little steep and you might be able to find cheaper and better breakfast options in the neighborhood if you venture out. Just FYI.
Bed was comfortable and common spaces were very well designed. The staff was very kind and helpful when we had as light issue with our booking. We found it very easy to get to La Foch/Parque El Ejido and other attractions without being in too hectic of a spot so it was the perfect balance. The app made check in very easy and they have lots of activities offered, though we didn't do any of them. Very good spot for a night in Quito between two big travel days.

United StatesThe towels were super hard and well-worn. They also slightly smell like gasoline, which was odd. The room had a slight “hostel” smell but it wasn’t too bad.
I loved the staff, common areas, and location. I booked a small room which was just perfect for one person and had a small window. The shared bathrooms were super clean and always available. Breakfast was really good.

United StatesThe hostal was quite cold, however, they did provide heaters for the rooms.
Kelly, who works at the from desk is amazing! She helped me to coordinate getting my laundry done, provided me with recommendations around the city and always accommodated any request I had. Plus she always remembered my name :) She is amazing at her job! Breakfast is really nice here. They have several options and Juice and very well done coffee are also included in the breakfast. Also, there were lots of activities planned at night by the onsite coordinator James, who did a great job at hosting evets. NOTE FOR DIGITIAL NOMADS: Internet worked PERFECTLY for zoom calls all throughout the hostal. If you need even stronger internet, which isn't that necessary since it is already so good, they have a co-working space.

CanadaIt didn't have the usual Selina vibe that were used to. None of the advertised activities happened, the neighborhood wasn't great (unless all you want is bars and expensive restaurants), the tours offered were more expensive and not as good as other companies. Shower was cold. They didn't sell water and didn't have much of a jug refill for water bottles - in a country where you can't drink tap water. Clean but stained sheets. The room was loud at night. The bar area was always empty. The 7am breakfast was very late, even when tours start at 730.
The staff and decor were nice, as per all the Selina hostels.

RussiaIt's located in the party zone of the city. For some tourists can be better to live right in the centre.
There are all the things that a good hostel should have: curtains, lockers, personal sockets, and good Wi-Fi. There's a free coworking with free coffee, zones for playing and hanging out, good kitchen. Everything is quite new and clean.

United KingdomNoise -couldn't sleep. This was due to 1) thin windows so all noise from the busy street flooded in 2) Reception staff playing loud music at all hours -I came down to catch a plane at about 5.30am and the reception music was at VERY loud club levels (all this came through the windows a few floors up)! Shame as the hostel is great facility wise, very impressive, but not being able to sleep well for the days I was there contributed to me getting very ill and having to cancel the rest of my trip. The actual hostel guests were quiet and respectful. The other thing that wasn't great was a weird smell in the rooms from the cleaning products. (& the waitress in the restaurant was a bit scary and unfriendly)! The other staff were all nice but obviously the loud music was inconsiderate.
Great facilities, cinema, kitchen, restaurant, work area, etc, also clean. Helpful travel agency downstairs run by a lovely lady, Catalina, who goes above and beyond to help you. Good menu in restaurant downstairs. Hostel guests were quiet.
