How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The hostel is really great, but the location is awful. It is not city centre and you wrote wrong in the booking - Viadukti 42a, Tallinn City-Centre, 11313 Tallinn, Estonia – Great location. It is far from the centre. What money I saved for the room, I paid it in a Taxi. I booked your hostel to save money in taxis and I feel cheated.

I didn't like that there was no staff or reception. You can only call on phone for assistance. The entrance was a bit hard to find as well. Although you can open the door with a code, you cannot lock from the inside when you're in your room so I didn't feel completely safe in that regards.
I liked the single room.it was very spacious. I liked how clean it was. I like that there was a fridge, microwave, plates, cutlery as I was ordering food throughout my stay. The bathroom was very spacious and the design was very nice. I felt somehow secure as you need a code to open the door.

its a 10min bus to center of tallinn.
the property is all brand new. its like a hotel but with all what you need, microwave, fridge, sink and personal toilet.

The communication and getting into the hostel. First, we booked a room and didn`t receive any e-mail (as it turned out should have come). In Booking there is no instruction that getting into this hostel is so different and at the beginning not understandable. Second, when we were near the doors and called the intercom to say that we booked a room, the first answer was - and? Then there was no answer at all at the intercom. I found a number where to call. We talked for about 10 minutes to finally get into the hostel. And it was -20 degrees outside. When received an e-mail, We needed to fill in information about us and only then did there come another e-mail with the door code.
I like that everything in the room was new.

Location, a bit far out from center, however the bus service was regular .
Spotlessly clean and modern and warm.Walking distance to Depo store.

I would like to mention that it was a bit dirty in some places. But that was the only thing I didn’t like:)
The design was awesome. I liked that my room was very nice, good-looking and cozy. I also liked that the dishes were provided as well as all other necessary stuff such as kettle, towers and so on.

The shower didn't work properly (not enough pressure), and the shower gel container was empty.

Impossible to enter, built like prison. Hotel is only accessible via a code sent after you fill out an online form. For travellers with no internet this makes it impossible to enter the hotel, as I found out, I booked in the morning from another hotel on wifi, I then drove 5hrs to hotel, when I arrived there were NO staff, NO lobby, NO ability to enter or access the hotel without an entry code. I had to ask another customer to help get in so I could access wifi (which makes a mockery of their security) once in, I now needed to fill online form and wait for response with access code, so you also need to remember a code for the main entrance, code for the corridors and code for room! Without a doubt the worst and most frustrating hotel I have encountered, worse than modern fad of self service checkouts, customer here does all work, zero customer service.

The hostel should be in the city center but it is definitely not.
The room had a big bathroom and it was really quiet even though there is a street close to the hostel. There is a bus station right in front of the hostel.

Windows locked (!), no air condition - no way to control the temperature. For me it was too warm and also stuffy in the mornings (do not eat beans).
New rooms, convenient parking.

In my case the the door key-code stopped working randomly when i tried to enter around midnight. Hotel phone did not answer and i had to spend couple hours outside in cold. Finally i was was able to reach somebody and russian speaking security guard came to let me in (he did not understand a word in estonian or english). When i asked the hotel for the compensation then they offered -10% on my next stay...
