Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SerbiaGreat experience for the first time sleeping in the desert. Host were the greatest, giving us the dune ride along the way to the camp, and sand surfing on our way back. Dinner was great with a lot of variety. Pool is also nice, so overall we had a really great time here. Would come back anytime!

AustraliaIt comes without saying, but I guess being aware of the fact that there is no wifi would have been good. We were also not provided a price list for the various activities, but rather we were just told what the total amount owed is. I guess it would have been more reassuring is we knew exactly what the activities costed before saying yes to it. The showers are shared between guests (no issue - however this wasn’t explicitly stated).
The location, the food and the friendliness of staff. Staying 3 nights in the desert was an amazing experience, something we will never forget.

AustraliaThe showers are a bit haphazard and need to be explained at the start better but it was Ramadan so things were a bit laidback.
The food was brilliant. The setting in the dunes spectacular and very special. The pool was wonderful to wash the sand off after a ride through the dunes. Eilwara gave us some exciting and heart stopping rides through the dunes - he is a very skilful driver.

United StatesThe mattress in tent is not super comfortable. But it’s a tent not a hotel room so that’s expected. Otherwise no complaints AT ALL.
It is an incredibly charming camp located in the desert sand just south of Siwa. The tents are warm and cozy. Perfect vibe. Phenomenal personal service and cooked meals at your leisure. The pool is beautiful. The property has plumbing, electricity/light/outlets for charging. Driver will transport to and from camp. Excellent personal tours available on request.

NetherlandsAl Nyhaya is one of the most exclusive and special places I’ve visited! Offering a very comfortable and relaxed stay in the middle of the desert. The staff is super friendly and they’ll do their very best to make you feel at home. They have an amazing huge natural water pool in which I went swimming at night underneath the stars, very recommendable. It’s not cheap, but worth every penny!

MexicoEverything! It’s such a magical place. The silence there is unique. Accommodations are very well done, comfortable, you can even sleep one night outside the tent to see the stars. The staff was exceptional from the start. AliWa picked me up and took me into the Sahara to go to the hotel. We had an amazing conversation and he offered to put my own music in the car (which was perfect for me) it was my own unique experience. And when you arrive there you’ll meet an amazing, honest and kind being Mahmoud. He cooks very good and is attentive to any need. Wake up for the sunrise and walk outside the camp to see it rise. It’s a magical moment to live.

TaiwanThe property was not the one advertised. I was informed in advance that it was due to the region being closed for tourists and moved to a similar property. This was not true, in fact it was because the property had not gained the permissions for overnight stays in the desert and the replacement property was nowhere near the same standard (we were taken to visit the place we should have stayed and it looked wonderful). We felt let down and tricked.
Breakfast was very good

EgyptOne of the dinner tents collapsed and was left down for our 6 day stay, so we didn’t have any out of the wind place to sit outside. Water was frequently not working in the bathrooms. We are unaware how much of what was left unattended was a result of the holiday but during the day staff were sleeping leaving guests to fend for themselves around camp.
The location was exceptional! Stunning desert view and incredible stars at night. The pool was a lot of fun when the wind wasn’t intense. The tents were securely built, even in a wind storm they stayed firm. We loved the stairs to access the wall and further enjoy the beautiful scenery.
