    All good

Very funky looking place in semi rural West Bank location right on the river....quiet, peaceful and well away from the scum and villainy that characterises the East Bank. Being located where it is, it has waterbirds and lizards and so forth on the property...and we like that. The breakfasts were good and the other meals we had there were fine. It also has Marina, who we found to be absolutely great....she arranged all our transportation needs at decent rates and is a warm and colourful character with a keen sense of humour. Staff are excellent, air conditioning worked a treat and the pool was a godsend on those 43 degree days....free boat service was handy for the times you HAVE.to cross the river, and you do have to a few times at keast...great stay, thanks

Check-in We arrived quite late about 10pm but were greeted at reception by Marina who took the time to chat to us about what we wanted out of our stay. Room - Opal Opal was fab: big bed, wonderful air con, the shower had good water pressure. We loved the little gecko 🦎 couple. Breakfast/food Served down by the pool. Lots of condiments (butter, honey, 3 types of cheese, apricot jam, marmalade) and Egyptian bread are provided. We were given a choice of muesli, toast, different types of omelette, fresh bananas from the field next door(maybe?), sweet melon (honey dew or gala?) Lovely coffee. The menu was changed every day. Nice different salads, cooked meats with rice. I had a really nice beef and orange dish which was really good. A choice of a few desserts. My husband is vegetarian/vegan and Marina made such an effort to make sure he had some choices. He said no to the Okra tho! 😂 Excursions The first day we took the free ferry over to the east bank. Before we went we asked about coming back and they gave us the hotel WhatsApp number. We walked 2mins to the main road and there was a bank where we could get money and it was easy to get a taxi down to the temples. When we were ready to go back we got the taxi to drop us off near the bank and messaged the hotel. The boat was there in 5mins. We knew that the hotel offers to book the excursions so we asked for a driver for the West Bank one day. Tarek was so good at explaining everything and such a laugh. Lovely air conditioned car too. We also booked the hot air balloon too. We were the first balloon to lift off but not the last to land. It was amazing! Totally recommend booking through the hotel! Notes This boutique hotel is for people who want a peaceful experience. I loved the view, the birds, the quiet. Towels are provided by the pool and dressing gowns in your room to walk down to the pool. It was fab chatting to Marina, learning more about Egypt and having a laugh.

The bed was only about 1.4m wide and too small for us two. Very dim ambient in the room.

Very nice building at a quiet place at the West Bank with free shuttle boat to the East Bank. This hotel is located at the riverside close to reeds and we enjoyed the time sitting in the garden seeing things around us. Our room was with a big and beautiful balcony and we had a good view at the Nile from our balcony. There were two cute geckos in our room.

The room was a bit dark and we had two single beds. Wifi is of poor quality. No alcohol sold

We were on the west side of Luxor but the hotel provide a taxi boat to take you anywhere in Luxor. The place is boarding the Nil and there are fields around full of birds. Breakfast is very good and the coffee is amazing. You can organise excursion with the hotel at a very competitive price

The approach in the evening was so pretty from the boat across the river and garden lit. The hotel is on the West Bank away from the hassle the other side. Peaceful pool and delicious food with very friendly and polite staff. The room was one near the pool at the end of the garden which was fab and with a couple of chairs to sit outside our room if wanted. Marina greeted us when we arrived and gave us tips and advice for our stay. She & her husband have created something special here without shouting about it It’s gorgeous .

We couldn’t fault anything and will return to stay at Djorff Palace again.

We loved the location and the grandeur of Djorff Palace. Marina and her staff made us feel very welcome. We enjoyed being on the quieter West bank and loved catching the complimentary boat across the Nile. Our meals were excellent and we loved our fancy four poster bed in the Amber room.

It’s a real place and you feel that you are in Egypt and in Luxor in the first minute. A beautiful Oasis near the Nile with a wonderful view. Overlooking the Nile, Mohammed's wonderful buildings combined with Marina's carefully selected antique furnishings, accompanied by modern, comfortable facilities make the Djorff a truly unique place to stay. Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, breakfast included local dishes alongside more typical offerings, lunches and dinners had beside the pool were all first class. Mohammed is rightly proud of his creation, and Marina a wonderful hostess; both clearly care deeply about their guests and their staff.

The breakfast is very boring. I recommend foregoing it and instead eating at The Old Egyptian Village which is 10 mins walk from Djorff Palace. Remember that the breakfast needs to be pre-ordered one day in advance.

An extremely charming place right by the Nile with a free boat service to the east bank. The owners are very friendly and helpful.

There was nothing not to like!

Everything about this place oozes of character and personality. A tranquil, relaxing atmosphere, while at the same time every nook and cranny of the building has some hidden treats for your eyes to feast on! The hospitality of the staff was great, and our hosts Mohamed and Marina were delightfully warm and welcoming. It was a small oasis of restful self-care after 4 long days of visiting the temples of Aswan and Luxor!!

Elegant, evocative hotel on the peaceful West Bank

One side of the hotel is still under construction, though there was no work going on while we were there so no noise. It'll no doubt be great when it's finished. The double bed in our room was distinctly on the small side, and the lighting rather low & gloomy: the owner did warn us about these things (a result of sourcing authentic furniture & lighting) but still good to be aware of this.

We stayed at the classic Winter Palace in Luxor first, and wish we'd stayed here more than one night: the peaceful setting on the shore of the West Bank was wonderful. The architecture is beautiful too, really evocative and elegantly done. A great deal of care has gone into the interior decor. Also lovely to enjoy meals at the outdoor restaurant with great riverside view.

A unique and affordable hotel experience on West Bank
    • Leisure trip

    • Queen Room with Balcony - Sapphire
    • Stayed 3 nights

It's Egypt after all and we cannot compare the staff services with other countries. Although there were not many guests and the staff were all friendly, there is still room for improvement (talking about restaurant). We learnt that you need to be very precise of what you want. For example, if you ordered FRESH mint tea one night and the next night you wanted the same, you must explicitly asked for the EXACT same thing, or you might get a Lipton teabag with some dried mint leaves. Egyptians would always come with some excuses first, then 5 mins after they realised what happened, they would ask if they could bring you a new pot with fresh mint leaves.

Style and location of the hotel on the West Bank. Menu at the restaurant had various options and changed daily. The owner helped to arrange the West Bank Tour and Hot-Air Balloon Ride (a must), which we thought the prices were fair and hassle-free. The easy and convenient boat shuttle from hotel to East Bank. WiFi was excellent throughout the hotel, and very good laundry services! The entire premise was beautiful and unique and much better than staying on the East Bank with the cookie-cutter style chained hotels. We stayed in the Sapphire Suite and liked it a lot, as it was tastefully decorated, private, quiet and spacious. There are many rooms on site, all decorated differently, and wish we could have a tour on a few of them!

Room was beautiful though carpets a bit worn and dusty, and a lot of pigeon droppings on the terrace.

Location was perfect, easy to reach the tombs and other sites, while being a peaceful respite from noise of central Luxor, which was a very quick and enjoyable boat ride across the Nile. Particularly appreciated the boat taking us direct to Luxor Temple for a small extra fee. Food was very good and ambience excellent. Staff were helpful and responsive and there was a friendly, informal and relaxed feel to the place.
