Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandBreakfast and dinner were mediocre. WiFi didn't work for us despite several attempts with the owner's son (that's why it's important to get a local SIM card at arrival in Egypt). The lake could get rough for the sunrise boat tour (flat bottom boats are not meant for rough waters) and they don't warn you.
Family run hotel and everyone was friendly and professional. We got to chat with the owner and his children and they were very helpful. The entire premise was big and well kept, our room was spacious, quiet and clean. The owner spent many years living in Switzerland and France, and we believe due to this experience, the deco and finishing of the hotel and rooms were of higher standards than other similar lodgings in Upper Egypt. We went for the Sunrise Boat Cruise towards the Abu Simbel temple and was lovely. In our opinion, it's worth to stay 1 night in Abu Simbel, take it easy go to the temple after 3pm when there's nobody, instead of doing the day-trip by bus from Aswan, which starts at 3:30am, and share the temple with hundreds of other tourists.

United KingdomThe hospitality from the staff (and the owner) were lovely. The hotel is in a fantastic location on the banks of lake Nasser. The accommodation is comfortable and the (Egyptian) food at dinner was great. A highlight for me, is that they have boats that can take you on a short tour to view the temple at dawn

GermanyGreat location by the lake, and only a short walk to the temple (20 min). We stayed in a newly built room, which was very big and beautifully decorated. Food (dinner and breakfast) was very delicious. The lodge offers boat tours. We did the Sunrise boat tour, which we highly recommend.

FranceEskaleh Eco-Lodge is the place where to stay in Abu Simbel, it is almost a destination in its own. It is owned by a famous Nubian singer and it is the place to experience Nubian culture. The personnel is incredibly friendly, the restaurant is very good, the main building of the hotel is very nice, built in traditional Nubian style. Rooms are in separate bungalows also very nicely decorate, very well equipped and very comfortable. They also organised our transport by car from and to Aswan. Everything perfect.

United StatesWe had wanted to see sunrise at Abu Simbel at 6am, in advance of our 8:40am departing flight, but when we showed up at the agreed-upon time (5:30am), the person the hotel had contracted for the boat ride refused to take us out and instead insisted that we wait until later. So we sat and twiddled our thumbs until finally at 6:10am, as the sun was already rising, he invited us to his boat but then he couldn't get the motor started and after 15 minutes of unsuccessful attempts, during which time the sun became fully risen and the sunrise completely lost, and our 5:30-6:30am sightseeing window completely run out, we had no choice but to give up. I was heartbroken, because seeing the sunrise at Abu Simbel had been a big part of why we decided to spend the night there. My advice would therefore be: do stay at Eskaleh - it's a great hotel. But make arrangements elsewhere for a sunrise boat tour. We saw several nice boats giving people sunset tours the night before so I know they're available. Also, be sure to come prepared to pay for everything you need to pay for in cash, including USD for any rooms that haven't been pre-paid. I suppose this is just common sense but we weren't traveling with a lot of cash, esp not USD, and were caught off guard by this when paying by credit card was suddenly impossible at the very last minute despite assurances otherwise the night before.
We were given two large brand new rooms for our family of four. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable, and the view over the water was fantastic. It was easy to arrive to the hotel using the free shuttle bus from the Abu Simbel airport (we got dropped off at the hotel's doorstep), and returning by the hotel's arranged tuktuk was equally straightforward. The hotel is within easy walking distance of good restaurants and they also have a restaurant onsite. The young man who seemed to be in charge of everything was wonderful.

NetherlandsThe only small point of critique would be the food, for the price we thought choice was small and the taste was very bland. But perhaps that's up to personal preference.
It's a beautiful little hotel, with super friendly and helpful staff, clean, spacious and with a perfect and calm location.

FranceThis place is pure awesomeness. You feel home there. Fikir, the owner with his wife and all the staff make you stay easy, comfy, and relaxing. In this beautiful hotel in the style of typical nubian house, they offer great breakfast on the terrasse and also they make good lunch and dinner for fare price. Also the staff there can help you out to organize day trip, transfer or whatever. I highly recommend this place 👌. United StatesVery lovely stay. They have a nice setup with a good view of the lake and open seating areas inside and outside. Host and owner are welcoming and accommodating. They went above and beyond to ensure our stay was pleasant. The evening prior we also notified them that we were leaving to Aswan at 5:30 AM the next day and they had Breakfast bags ready for us. Room was huge and comfortable. Easy ride (5 min on tuk tuk) or walk (30 min) to the temple. I would definitely recommend staying here and wished I could have stayed longer.

United StatesIf I would do it again, would stay at Tuya hotel as that had a nicer view and is right next to Abu Simbel. Eskaleh is a bit farther away and harder to get back for the night show.
Very nice hotel with nice staff. Near the water with a bit of a view. Big patio that is good after dark for dinner, but that has no shade during the day. Good air conditioners and water heaters. Standard breakfast. Dinner was good as well, fairly standard menu but with tagine option. Cost 300 to come from the airport though they said it should cost 200 for a taxi.
