Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsNothing from Abu’s place. The island is a very welcome escape out of the busy city of Aswan and the ferry rides are beautiful! But dont expect too much of the island as a colourful village. It has no paved roads, just small pathways of sand as a labyrinth.
For us Abu guesthouse was a very nice place. The view from the rooftop overlooking the Nile with the Mausoleum is very nice. (We didn’t sit there except breakfast, but having your breakfast there is a treat.) Also its on the south side of Elephantine so very quiet and waking up with birds. The room was really new (Abu is still building up the guesthouse at this moment) with fan and perfect new airconditioning, mosquitoblinds for the windows, very comfortable bed and enough space. Abu was very helpful arranging an earlymorning boattour and a very comfortable ride to Abu Simbel. Also you can do laundry if you want.

FranceNothing.
Besides the amazing Elephantine island and the nice rooftop, what makes the stay at Abu Guest House really unique is Abu. He arranged for us all the activities we wanted to do (felucca, boat to the Kitchener's island or to the Nubian villages, Abu Simbel, taxi to Luxor). He is a very good cook and always prepare the best beverages. Besides that, the guest house offers nice and simple little rooms with AC. 5 minutes from the nearest public ferry (south). Really quiet and peaceful environment.

United StatesAbu is an amazing host. Although, my train got delayed about an hour, he picked me up from the dock of the Elephantine island and dropped off at the end for free. On arrival he offered fresh mango juice. While heading to Abu Simbel, which starts at 4 AM, he prepared a breakfast package with three different sandwiches, a banana, and a bottle of water. The breakfasts were delicious. I stayed three nights. Rooms are basic and clean, have a/c plus a cellling fan. Nice tranquil place to stay at Aswan.

SloveniaAbu is an exceptional host and place feels like home. This is why I return again and again and bring friends as well. Each single person has been more then satisfied with staying here. Abu helps with anything, what you need while staying here. He as well provides sand spa, which is deeply healing. Breakfast is better then in most best hotels around the world, included fresh made juices. He offers delicious dinners. Here is peaceful and safe and beautiful. It is HOME. This is why we created for Abu a group on FB: "Abu Guest House, Elephantine island, Nubia". Welcome to check it out.

Nestled on Elephant Island in the serene waters of the Nile, Abu Guest House transcends typical lodging. Our stay surpassed every expectation – from the comfort of the room to the delectable cuisine. However, what truly elevates this experience is Abu himself, our remarkable host. His attentiveness, coupled with a talent for massage and organised the Abu Simbel tour and spots around Aswan as the unfinished obelisk or the Nubian village, it made our stay unforgettable. Originally booked for one night, we extended without hesitation. If you seek an extraordinary stay in Aswan, Abu Guest House is the hidden gem you've been searching for. Don't miss the chance to embrace unparalleled hospitality and breathtaking views.

RussiaWe recently stayed at Aswan Abu guest house. We liked everything very much. The guest house has been renovated, everything is beautiful and cute. We lived in a triple room. The room was not very big, but comfortable and clean with a large closet. There were towels and soap in the room. Good Wi-Fi in the room. The owner of the guest house is a very friendly and hospitable person. After booking, he immediately wrote to us that he could meet us on the boat, because the guest house is located on an island. The location of the guest house is excellent, close to the boat station. The guest house is located next to the Nile, a lot of greenery, nature, it's great! Mr. Abu offered us welcome drinks - fresh guava juice. The guest house has a roof with beautiful views, a very beautiful sunset can be seen from the roof. Mr. Abu prepared an excellent dinner for us. At dinner he sat with us and talked, he speaks good English. Also Mr. Abu organizes excursions at very affordable prices. He can organize a tour to Abu Simbel, Aswan city tour and others. He took us on his boat to the St.Simeon monastery and a Nubian village, it was really nice and interesting. If you don’t have time to have breakfast, then you can ask the owner for lunch boxes in the morning; you need to ask for them in the evening. Mr. Abu will try to help you with any questions. We also really liked the island on which the guest house is located; it’s nice to walk around it. There is also a dog living in the guest house, a very affectionate dog. We are delighted with this guest house, with the owner, with the nature around. This guest house has a pleasant and cozy atmosphere, like home. I advise you to stay here. We will definitely come back here!

SloveniaI came for 1 night, however on the end I stayed much longer... as long I was able to. This place I call HOME. It is exceptional. And ABU is best host you can imagine. Litteraly. I am almost on the Temple Ground, in front of my balkony are singing birds in high trees. I hear nothing else then nature, however I am not away from the village, house is surrounded with other houses, with beautiful view from the terrace to Aga Khan Palace... Just 200 meters from the house is my favourite beach, where I swim in the wonderfull waters of the NIle, which here on this side is clean and peacefull ( most of the time). I feel safe to sit on the rocks of the beach, just down from the back side of the Temple, as well at evening, under the moon. ABU is best host you can imagine. And amazing chef. Super helpful. I learn from him as well a lot. He introduce me to Sand Spa, that is one of best therapies you can experience, direct from Mother Nature, rebirthing our bones, deeply nurturing, relaxing, healing. I could write a book about life in this wonderful Guestohouse. I wish to return, and be here a LOT.

MaltaThe room was a little small for three persons, each with two pieces of luggage. The shower was a little cramped and too close to the toilet.
Abu and his family were very welcoming. They provided transfers to and from the island at the hours when the public ferry was not operating. They also offered to provide breakfast, lunch and dinner, but we had already planned other arrangements. The accomodation was very clean, had good WiFi and air conditioning and was in a quiet area.

RussiaNothing😉 There are still some building works on the premises and the place around looks a bit messy. But I’m sure it’s temporary and there is no noise during the night, so we slept perfectly well.
The guest house is located on the beautiful Elephantina island overviewing the Nile. Abu (the hotel manager and chef) is a very caring and hospitable man. It is really important for him that the guests have a good time while staying. The rooms are cozy and clean. The beds are comfy. The service is excellent. My husband and I are vegetarian, so Abu cooked various and absolutely delicious meals for us at a reasonable price 😊 On request it is possible to go on a boat trip along the Nile on the original sailing boat. We had a lovely time! The next time we come to Aswan, we’ll definitely stay at Abu’s place)
