Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomLike all property in that part of the world there are issues but the location and genuine friendliness and concern for our comfort more than eclipsed anything that wasn’t perfect.
The isolation from the town. The serene boat ride past boulders to the guest house. The view. The delicious dinner we had there. The kindness of the owner.

JapanMy friends who stayed this guesthouse last year highly recommended me. I stayed there for the first time but felt like I came to my friend’s house. They give a free boat pick up service. You can enjoy the great scenery to the Elephantine island. Kafana and his uncle Wael are very nice and helpful!! Wael showed me the local area on the island and told me a lot about Nubian culture. They’re always happy to help their guests. Although I had to leave very early for Abu Simbel tour, Kafana came to give me a breakfast box&coffee and say goodbye. Also, food there is great!! I had buffalo tajine and it was the best dish I’ve ever had in Egypt. I want to come back this place again and stay longer next time.

United StatesThis is something of an oasis on Elephantine Island. Very quiet and peaceful. Located on the river with a nice view of the desert on the other side and the botanical garden. Much nicer than the chaos of Aswan city or some of the other guest houses on the island. Highly recommended.

United KingdomKafana and other members of staff were extremely welcoming and helpful and made sure we had everything we needed. We organised several trips through Kafana and all were very reasonably priced. We especially enjoyed the transfer to Luxor via Kom Ombo and Edfu, stopping off for falafel and sugar cane juice! The food was really good too.

United KingdomNothing. But if there is something you don't like, tell Kafana, I know he'd do his best to fix it
I loved everything about Kafana Guest House. I stayed four nights and did not want to leave. Kafana himself was a great person to spend time with, very thoughtful about each and every guest. He can organise anything for you, and I was glad he persuaded me to take a car with a driver to Abu Simbel - we set off at a reasonable hour (9am rather than the tours which leave around 4am) and I had the site almost to myself as the tours had been and gone. Philae temple was really interesting and the Nubia museum is a must - I learned so much about Nubian history and culture. The women staff at the guest house were lovely and Mohammed cooked amazing food, I ate there for breakfast and dinner. After a couple of days it was like being one of the family. Every evening was a delight - having a beer in the evening whilst looking out on the feluccas passing on the Nile a few feet away- the location is amazing. I also liked being on the west side of Elephantine Island as you get a 10 minute walk through the village houses and fields on the way to the ferry. I recommend you stay a few days - it is worth not rushing. Thank you, so much, to everyone.

United Kingdom2 weeks ago In 2 weeks in Egypt this hotel was the best (and we had stayed in some pretty splosh hotels). The rooms are clean, dark and quiet (don't tell the local Imam but you can't hear morning prayers here!). The bed is lovely and firm. Excellent night's sleep. The service provided by Gaba was exceptional and made our stay in Luxor. He is a fantastic host, making every guest feel as though they are the most important. For the days we were in the West Bank he arranged a driver for us. For our time on the east bank he organised a car to the Nile and boat to cross. When we were ready to come home we whatapped the boatman and like magic we were floating back across the Nile and met by a driver to take us to our hotel. It was seamless and made something (transport) that could have been a bit exhausting into a remarkably simple experience, leaving us to concentrate on admiring the temples. He also gave us fantastic tips on viewing Karnak that made our visit standout. The breakfast at the hotel was the best we had had in Egypt. The most delicious foul (beans), and the local cheese is divine, so creamy. I can't recommend this place more highly. The temple that is in walking distance is amazing.

The location takes a few minutes walk from the public port, so the environment is very quiet. The room is simple and neat. In the morning, having the tasty breakfast while enjoying beautiful Nile river view is one of the best experience in Aswan. The owner and stuff are so warmed hearted and helpful. They provided breakfast box when we have to departure early.

United StatesIt was hard to come up with anything! The main light in the room was super bright - something a bit softer ( orca dimmer) would be better.
We experienced genuine Nubian hospitality. The people who run this guest house are so warm & friendly. The guest house sits right on the Nile and the view from the restaurant is stunning. The rooms are simple and clean with good air-conditioning and ample plugs in the room for charging phones etc. We had breakfast and lunch at the restaurant and the food was great! The guest house has a laid back vibe and is run by people who are proud of their Nubian culture and want to share it with their guests. We booked a boat ride around the island with them and the owner came along and gave us the history of the area and pointed out all the sights. He also gave us a walking tour of the island showing us the farms and houses. It was so wonderful to experience the real Nubian culture.

United KingdomIts easy to get lost trying to reach the last leg of the walk from a street on the island to where the building is located by the waterside since there are no clear paths. You can rest assured that people are happy to help you find your way though. It would be a good improvement to add one or two signs to prevent this.
Clean sheets. Comfortable temperature. Tasty breakfast. Gael, Kafana's uncle, was the host while I stayed there and he was a joy to be around - always smiling, laughing and happy to help.

Mega cool! Kafana the owner is the best. Host we had in Egypt. Trustful and really helpful, something very rare in Egypt, you will see. Everything was relax and he helped us to organize a boat trip to discover nearby. Good to know, he has invested in brand new kayak so guest can rent it directly at the hotel and go from there kayaking on the nile river, simply amazing!

Peaceful and quiet. The rooms have all the basic necessities and is very clean. The staffs were very nice and the food was great! Kafana helped us arrange a private transport to Abu Simbel at a reasonable price, gave complimentary rides to their motor boat and even checked in on us to make sure we made it safely to our destination. NetherlandsVegans and vegetarian choices need to be expanded.
Such a beautiful serene location - 4 rooms only - ask for room 3 which give a wonderful view of the Nile to wake up to. Kafana and his crew are wonderful hosts. Elephantina island is a Nubian Island - so typically underdeveloped - but one must look past this and infuse the hospitality and friendliness of the people. Can’t see why you would choose anywhere else in Aswam.
