Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe service was disappointing and slow. The first issue we faced when we checked into our room was that the phone was not working. We raised this at around 11AM, and raised it another 4 times before it was fixed at about 21:00 that day. One the second day, we didn't get hot water and when we complained, someone did show up after an hour. We then had a call from front desk that the hot water issue has been fixed, but this was not the case. We took cold showers that day, as we were tired to complain again. We ordered some food through room service and were not happy with the pizza served. We asked for more basil and I asked the person who took the order to repeat it too, but the pizza was served with no basil on it. The overall taste was passable, and so, will not recommend it. The Blue Nile boat restaurant plays music all through the night, and it may disturb sleep if you are light sleeper. The people in the room next door were playing music till around 2AM, so, sound insulation between the rooms and from outside could do a world of good to the experience. As we were checking out early, we requested for breakfast and they kindly provided breakfast bags, but the bags were flimsy and couldn't hold the weight. Steigenberger does a good job with their bags and Novotel can take a clue from them. Wish the windows in the room didn't obstruct the Nile view.
The room was clean, the beds were comfortable and the breakfast was awesome. The location is next to Kasr Al Nile Bridge and our room overlooked the Nile river, but the windows could be replaced to give a proper view of the Nile. Checkin process was smooth and the staff at the desk were all friendly and welcoming. We showed up at around 10:30AM, even though the actual check-in was at around 14:00, but the staff were kind to check us in at 10:30AM, as the room was available.

BelgiumAmazing staff, got an upgrade to the suite without asking, friendly and warm reception, very attentive to details of service by all staff members. Housekeeping very friendly and diligent. Location stellar, walking distance to Egyptian museum. Views breathtaking and make you even stay in at night and get room service... Great breakfast. Gym a bit small and could be a huge asset if more appliances and space to train with a view.

AustraliaWith poor Egypt standard, hotel was above acceptable. However for an international hotel I expected more. I.e. at breakfast everyday had to remind someone that cofee machine was out of cofee! We ordered same soup 3 nights and got 3 different serving ways. No consistency. Butter was rancid and not able to eat, every night! The room was clean, but behind curtains were filty. Nights very noisy till 3am with music coming off the street. Probably night club nearby. Would need better noise cancelling.
Location was good. Overall reasonable stay.

United KingdomI did not suffer from this, but the road in front is a bit noisy - if you are a light sleeper you may need a room above the 3rd floor.
Good breakfast with nice options, perfect location close to Tahrir square and walking distance to the north part of Zamalek. The hotel was clearly renovated recently and it's all very clean. Very friendly staff.

TurkeyThe hotel faces the Nile River where there are tour boats with lively music and dancing. Some noise from these boats as well as traffic can be heard in the rooms. It was not at a level that disturbed our sleep or anything but just info for those who are sensitive to street sounds
The staff were very very helpful, very friendly while not intrusive and helped us have a comfortable stay. Especially Mohammed and Tahir at the front desk, Tamer manager and Mirna at guest relations were really great! Breakfast was better than we had expected. We had a chance to try some Egyptian specialties like falafel, foul mudammas, golden berry, local bread…which were all delicious. The staff at the restaurant were also very attentive and kind. Location is very close to Tahrir Square and the Cairo Museum, very easy to get around

BahrainI recently had the opportunity to stay at the Novotel Cairo El borg hotel and overall, it was a pleasant experience. The hotel staff were incredibly welcoming and cooperative, making me feel at home from the moment I stepped foot into the lobby. The location of the hotel is also perfect, situated in a quiet area that is still conveniently close to various attractions and amenities. However, one major drawback I encountered during my stay was the room card system. It was extremely frustrating and time-consuming to constantly have to reset the card every time I returned to the hotel. On numerous occasions, I found myself waiting for at least 20 minutes during peak hours just to get the card reset. The hotel's explanation for this inconvenience was that the magnetic system of the room card is interfered with by mobile devices. While this may be a valid reason, it is still a hassle for guests and should be addressed to ensure a smoother experience. Additionally, the breakfast at the Novotel Cairo hotel left much to be desired. There were not many options available and the overall quality was subpar. For a hotel of this caliber, I expected a wider variety of choices and better quality dishes to start my day off on the right foot. This was definitely a disappointment. Lastly, the design of the pillows in the room was not comfortable at all. They were square in shape, which made it difficult to find a comfortable position to sleep in. I found myself tossing and turning throughout the night, trying to find a suitable position to rest my head. This certainly impacted the quality of my sleep during my stay. In conclusion, while the Novotel Cairo hotel has its positive aspects such as the welcoming staff and great location, there are some significant areas for improvement. The room card system needs to be updated to avoid constant resets, the breakfast options should be expanded and improved, and the choice of pillows should be reconsidered for guest comfort.
