Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

TurkeyThis place is in a village and there is no car on that island. So if you have heavy luggage it can be difficult to carry.
We were the only family at the property (because of the season's end) so we had an endless conversation about the history, ancient Egypt, and the Nubian life with Seyfi. Hotel is very clean with A/C, good wifi, and a wide lobby. We felt like a guest in a village house, not a customer of them. Seyfi helped us to find a taxi to go to Luxor and called us every time to be sure we were ok. My kids liked him too much and these nice Nubian people. very happy to see you there, we believe we have a friend there.

United StatesNothing. I highly recommend staying here.
Saef's hospitality is unmatched. His kindness alone made it such a great stay; he provides snacks and tea, makes an AMAZING omlette, coordinates transport/tours, and is wonderful to talk to. Outside of that, everything I was looking for accomodation-wise was there: the Wi-Fi was strong, room was comfortable, and shower was hot.

United StatesElephantine island is a little challenging to navigate due to the many winding and narrow walkways between all the buildings. I'm not great with direction so I kept missing turns, but the locals were always so nice in helping me find my way. It is actually a wonderful village with no cars and no horns and I always felt totally safe. The "inner courtyard" view left a little to be desired.
Saif was a real joy to meet and was a beautiful host; genuinely concerned about my having a positive experience. The room was quite nice, comfortable bed, large mini-fridge,large private bath ( water pressure was a little on soft side, but plenty of hot water). There was a shared kitchen and Saif provided options for breakfasts and dinners at a nominal cost- aromatic and delicious. Large, comfy common area with water and fruits available everyday. Rooms were secure and nights were quiet so sleep was sound and deep. Everything was walkable from house so a very convenient location. Saif is a wonderful host. Ferry runs very consistently and only 10egp to cross.

United KingdomThe water and electricity was cut at different times during our stay, which was a bit difficult but not the owners fault as issues and repairs were going on island wide.
The owner is a very pleasant and helpful person and the guesthouse is comfortable with good WiFi. Free tea/coffee and fruits were provided. The location on Elephantine island was lovely and quiet, compared to the hustle and bustle of the mainland. It is very close to the Aswan museum and the local ferry is easy to use, cheap and available 24/7 (between midnight and 6am there is an extra charge). Would recommend buying food from the main supermarket on the island as the prices are very reasonable compared to the mainland markets.

PakistanI can’t think of any negatives about our stay - honest
I cannot give enough praise to this property. Nestled in the midst of the island, it provides excellent toilet facilities and an amazing shared lounge space. Toilets are neat and clean and gives more of a five star feel. Saif is an excellent host and my kids simply felt like home. He makes fresh breakfast and food and we loved it be it; fresh juice, egg and cheese with fresh bread or falafels. Saif helps the guests without any greed of making the extra dime. He provided me with train times and actual cost, bus options and also private car. He made our stay comfortable and at ease. I highly recommend this place for the unique and hospitable experience

FranceBest hotel so far in Egypt! The location in the Nubian village of Elephantine Island is great/calm and the rooms are clean. The highlight is really the owner Saef who is the kindest person we met: he welcomed us with delicious drinks and was so helpful in organizing trips to Abu Simbel and felouca. Highly recommended!

United KingdomOne thing to be aware of is there aren’t many shops/places to eat on the island but that didn’t bother me!
This is a lovely small guesthouse on Elephantine Island - it’s a very quiet and traditional area but really lovely. The room was very comfortable, good air con and the staff were lovely. Close to the ferry pier (5 mins) and the main sights on the island. Fantastic value for money.

Saif is the living proof of honesty, goodness, kindness and hospitality. He welcomed us as if we knew each other for a long time. He gave us food, juices, drinks just from its goodness of heart. He made us taste Egyptians food that we would have never discovered by ourself. One of the best host I have ever seen. You can go there without questioning. As for the room, very clean, comfortable. The little street to go there are really cute. Everything was great.

Saif, the owner is an amazing host. He fed us with healthy juices. He is a most respectful person with a gentle soul. The place is a welcome haven after the Aswan heat. We were a big group, the rooms all branch off from the lounge in the centre, so it is a good common room.

LatviaOne day there was a problem with water supply, but that was not fault of the hotel. The whole island had this problem.
It's in a very quiet place in an island. Authentic beautiful cozy design. Carpets, books available to read and exchange. The service was very good. They took care of us, gave us welcome drinks (some good juice made of unknown to me fruit), prepared for us coffe and tea (free of charge). There was an AC in the room and also in the commun area. Easy to go to the center of Aswan (by boat across the river), it takes just 5 minutes and you are on the other side of the river.

SwitzerlandKind and friendly host: Mr Saif. He cooked a homey dinner for us and breakfast, but too much food for us! He was very helpful with our children, offering fruit, anti-mosquito and did our laundry for a fee. Also took us to his friend who has a pet alligator! Wireless Internet works well. We had 2 simple rooms, with perfectly clean and functional bathrooms. It's a few alleys away from the public ferry, max 10min walk with small kiddy legs. Extremely calm. Would definitely recommend. We went to swim at Basma Hotel on 3 afternoons. You can order a meal or drink and stay at the pool! They have changing facilities.
