We felt a terrible lack of communication between the host and us. This was frustrating for all parties. The house rules and instructions were unclear; an excellent example was regarding the fireplace and the firewood.

The house is cozy, well furnished, away from the city and so adorable with Christmas decorations everywhere. I love the sauna garden. Ella - the host was so nice, she took care of every corner of the house.

One of the highlights of my stay was the incredible sauna facility. It was not just great; it was exceptional. The sauna was impeccably clean, well-maintained, and had a serene ambiance that instantly relaxed me. Whether it was the traditional Finnish sauna or the steam room, each visit was a rejuvenating experience. The flat itself was comfortable and stylish, with well-appointed rooms and modern amenities. The attention to detail in the decor and cleanliness was evident throughout.

If you want to feel the real Lapland, then this house is the perfect choice. A real wooden country house, which is very cozy, clean, beautiful, warm. The house is filled with many cute details that capture the spirit of Finland. The hospitable hostess will meet you and will be happy to help with any questions or even help you find a reindeer farm that you did not know about, and then treat you to delicious cookies. And how cool after daytime activities to sit by the fireplace and look at the beautiful sky in the panoramic window of the living room in the evening. In the kitchen you can cook on your own, there is everything for this even coffee can be prepared in a coffee machine. A room for three is located on the second floor, from the windows of which in the morning you can see squirrels or squirrels will look right into your window. There are no doors in the room, but this does not cause discomfort as there are roller blinds and silence rules apply in the house after 23:00. And if you get cold during the day then without any problems you can ask the hostess to heat the sauna by a certain time and it will be fantastic because there is a sauna in the yard, it has a panoramic window and after warming up well, you can dive right into the fluffy snow. You will be given towels and warm bathrobes to keep warm when you leave the sauna. The house can be reached by public transport and the ticket is valid for an hour so you can transfer to other buses with it. If there is a clear sky and strong solar activity, then you will not need a glass igloo, because the aurora can be observed through the panoramic window sitting comfortably on the sofa. Would like to come back again.

The property was not very clean (not hoovered upstairs where I found old cotton bugs and bags under the bed), kitchen splash back not clean either and toilets and showers with hair everywhere. The property was also far from the city centre with hardly any bus routes running (no bus at weekend and one bus an hour on week days at 900m away walking). A taxi to Rovaniemi costs at least €20 per trip which adds up quickly. Recommend downloading the Menevä Taksi App to get cheaper price on taxi rides. You’re 5km from the city, 8km from Sauta Claus village which will cost you at least €30 one way (if not double that!). You’re 18km from the beautiful Apukka Resort where you can do huskies ride. The host Ella was very unfriendly and did not provide any breakfast albeit some comments on the review. There is NO breakfast included and the closest supermarket is 3.5kms away (difficult to walk to on icy path). A taxi to go and get some food will cost you the price of a breakfast in a hotel basically! The room in the loft has 2 beds (1 single and 2 double made-up with two single beds) so can accommodate 3 people but beware as the stairs are very very steep and dangerous and there is no door so no privacy and no noise blocker when you’re upstairs! The entrance to the room upstairs is tiny (better for kids than adults) so you have to bend to come in and you cannot take luggage upstairs as it’s very narrow to come in. The showers are in the basement so essentially you end up having bed upstairs then luggage on the 1st floor with the rest of the guests and then shower downstairs. A bit chaotic if I’m honest for the price we have to pay.

The traditional wooden chalet was beautiful and well insulated (almost too warm inside given the weather of mild temperature of 1 degree for a February!). There are two saunas indoor and outdoor but the use of it need planning and you are only allowed to use it once during your stay. Note that when using the indoor sauna, other guests can’t use the shower as the sauna connects to the communal shower.

There is no privacy. House owner cones several times a day to check on you, complains about kids running through the terrace, too much light being switched on, too much wood being used at fire place, souna being warmed too hot, dishes (in the kitchen declared as our 'own' kitchen) being not washed before you leave the house for skiing, etc. We had two rooms, one was without a door, just with a curtain. This also reduces a felling of privacy. The shower is shared with the owner. Besides, there is literally no shelves available for storing your things - everything is full with the stuff of the house owner.
