Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandFixtures were all quite dodgy. Our curtain rail came off the wall and electrical outlets and extension plugs were a bit scary! Some of the single beds had a narrower base than mattress making it awkward to sleep on for my roommates. The restaurant closed very early, 7.30pm and as there's not much else around that was not great.
We liked the free sauna and found it easy to prebook a time slot. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Shared toilets and showers were quite handy except got very steamy and no ventilating. Rooms were really warm. Liked having a fridge in our room.

BelgiumThe bed was really small (narrow).
All was very accessible: the place itself, the room, the restaurant. Comfort and up-to-dateness were just under the limit, but the service was friendly and the room just comfy enough for one night's stay.

Might be excellent option when you lucky enough to see Aurora lights.. Most of the time there is clouds , so only view through the windows is to the frozen lake . I am not recommend this igloos to those traveling with a kids. Igloos are too small, and toilet hasn’t have a door , only curtain, we have used a toilet located in a main building

United StatesLighting was dark, steps were a bit dangerous, bathrooms needed to be cleaned more often, maybe another set of towels for week stay.
This is a wonderful old time family run business. Staff was very helpful!! Their rates were very good but your sharing a bathroom and what comes with staying at an old well used property. Everything was clean and the breakfast delicious. Great food here but we ran out of options by the end of the week.

GermanyWe enjoyed our short time stay in this Guesthouse very much and luckily, we could also see Northern Lights from our window in the main building. We most enjoyed the Husky Safari because the starting point was right next to the Guesthouse and the route offered a beautiful view of the landscape. We were also allowed to take photos with all the cute Huskies and it was a very special and beautiful experience. The owners take really good care of them too and that is why we really want to recommend this safari.

FinlandWe were given an igloo with a limited view, even though there were free igloos available and there was no price difference when I booked the accommodation (not to mention that the igloos are mobile).
The AuroraHut-igloo itself and the wood-fired lakeside sauna were fantastic. Considering the touristic location and the time of year, I think the offer was decent as it included the stay in the glass igloo, breakfast and free traditional sauna.

AustraliaRoveneimi is a small airport. You take a taxi to the central bus station (about 25 euro). Then a bus to Ranua (18 euro - you buy a ticket on the bus, and it takes about an hour). Besides the zoo, there's not much to see in Ranua. I would suggest asking staff about a local tour (I went moose tracking in the swamps and then to see the huskies). I'm sure there are many more activities in Winter/summer months (I went early October).
Staff went above and beyond. Johanna is such a wonderful person - incredibly helpful and kind, with excellent communication! The igloos were great - highly recommended experience. I didn't eat at the restaurant but there seemed to be a good-sized menu.

IrelandI believe the only problem is don’t have shower inside the igloo.
They have a good breakfast, the igloo is small but it’s perfect to try to see northern lights.

AustraliaIt was a little difficult to drag our bags through the snow to the igloo. When we left they had cleared the snow more which was helpful. The bathrooms were not quite at the level you’d expect when paying this much for accommodation. They were not very clean and were run down. The shower was also cold on our first morning but it was 7am so it may not have heated up yet. Our second morning had a warm shower. When we checked in we didn’t get a warm welcome from the young person checking us in or clear instructions on things like where the showers were. We arrived at 7:30pm so this may have been due to it being busy. Everyone else was very kind!
Beautiful view and great activities. We asked to have the igloo at the front which meant we had an uninterrupted view which was amazing. We liked being able to eat at the guesthouse and the friendly staff. Complimentary breakfast was also a bonus. The children in the family that run this property were a lot of fun and very friendly. The staff were helpful and kind.

United KingdomWe were far too close to each other and the glass view looked straight into other igloos which was not as described. Apparently they were unable to move them and offered no compensation. This was the most expensive accommodation we had booked and it was a lot of money for one night to be looking at another igloo and having no privacy!
Loved the Igloo. Was a great experience.

IndiaClean, comfortable and charming. perfect distance from the bus station and from the zoo. in fact much less crowded than Rovaniemi with all of the same winter activities. Ranua is a precious little hideaway and this place is perfect to explore the Finnish Lapland. The breakfast is great and the staff is very friendly and warm - always helpful even with small special requests. Do check out their cozy sauna - it is so comforting after a long day’s activities.
